yeah suppose worth a try 6603x was all i could make out of one of them the rest were blocked out of view

Clues like that I can work with...! Narrows it down to six locos (or four if you could tell if it didn't have a "DB" sticker on...). Most likely suspect is 66034 which was reported as being at Acton at 10am. None of the other 6603x locos appeared to be in that neck of the woods (this morning at least).

023 was down as being at Acton Foster Yeoman (not sure if that's different).

66097 is DB Red so rules it out.

66144 and 66188 both appear to have left Acton around about midday - 66144 headed off to South Wales on 6Z47, whereas 66188 appears to have been picked up by 66149 on 6Z48 and gone to Wembley (WEFOC). So rules them out?

66162 was showing this morning as "Acton Loco Holding Sidings"

In addition 66106 arrived at Acton at 11:40 this morning on 6V60 from Ardingley.

Thickens further... 66023 was showing as being at West Drayton ARC at 19:48; can't suss which working it went on though. So that may or may not rule that one out.

66106 - having come in from Ardingly late morning - was reported as still being at Acton at 18:35 though. So that's a distinct possibility for being there when you passed.

No further update on 66162's whereabouts (last report still in the morning at "Acton Loco Holding Sidings").

66177 was there too, but left to Dawley Loop at 16:22 so may have been before you were there?


So, trying to piece this together, looks like 66034/037/106 were almost definitely there, 66162 possibly, 66023 possibly not; and 66177 but only until 16:22.
66006/007/144/188 were there earlier in the day, but would appear to have left by the time you were there.

In summary, EWS 66s are common as muck and trying to work out which were there in a pretty busy yard with movements all day is somewhat tricky! :?

(Couple of red ones were possibly there too, plus 59/2s as well, but guessing if they were you got those.)

Managed to ID a few then

...checked the 03x possibilities again and pretty sure only those two could've been there at the time.

66143 was on 6Z41 which left Acton 105 Late at 15:56 to Whatley Quarry.
