I suspect one of them may have been 37612 as this is in a plain blue livery and is currently on hire to Colas. I caught it working 0Z38 1705 Crewe to Derby R.T.C and further digging on RTT shows a working in the opposite direction, with the same headcode, that left Derby at 1505, arriving into Crewe at 1629. Not sure what would have happened to the other loco, maybe it was dropped off at one of the depots around Crewe

Thanks for looking into, an interesting one!

Come to think of it there weren't any DRS markings, they were both blue 37's so I presumed DRS but they could be Colas and awaiting new livery.

Pretty sure you saw 37607 and 37612 - whilst both Colas operated locos (leased from Harry Needle I think) they're both in unbranded DRS blue livery (recent photos here):

37607 - https://flic.kr/p/2bSaBrm (not mine)
37612 - https://flic.kr/p/2c5iN6Q (not mine)

At 09:20 per TOPS they were both at Derby RTC and by 16:00 37607 was still there and as @The_Train says 37612 had gone on to work 0Z37 to Crewe and 0Z38 back in the afternoon. 0Z37 left the RTC at 15:05, which would tally with you seeing the two passing through Derby (perhaps on a quick test run not showing on the data feeds) about 30 mins previously before 612 headed off.

The only other blue Colas 37 is 37610 (another HNRC hire-in) which was in Mossend today. As noted above, none of the DRS ones looked to have been in the area either. By process of elimination, therefore, highly likely these two were what you saw.

That's great, top detective work there! Must be them 2. Thanks!

Wonder if 2M77 will convert to 195’s or 150’s once the 142’s are withdrawn

A few from today (01/11/2018) if anyone can help please?

  • I spotted 67020 at the head of a TfW service at Crewe (I belive it was waiting to form 1D51 0711 Crewe to Chester) around 0710 but didn't have chance to check what DVT was on the rear. Does anyone know which DVT it was please?
  • As I departed Manchester Piccadilly at around 0919, 82308 was leading a TfW set into platform 13 but I didn't get to see what was on the rear. Can anyone assist with this please?
  • We were held at Dore and Totley for a short period and whilst we sat there a XC HST set snuck past and I missed the lead power car but grabbed 43321 at the rear. I believe it to have been XC 1V50 0606 Edinburgh to Plymouth - anyone know the lead power car please?
As always any help would he appreciated :)

Thanks

Those two trains are actually part of the same diagram, so your first sighting answers your second query (what loco?),
while your second sighting answers your first question (which DVT?)

Simples! :D

You know I had a feeling that was going to be the case and I toyed with including this detail in my request but decided against it in the end. This could be a new challenge for people.....how far can you travel having noted one end of a set before you see it again to be able to note the number of the other end :E

Thanks for the confirmation Mark

@Oscar46016

387157 was out this morning paired with 387146 (146 country-157 London)

They are currently back on the TCD so it depends what the TCD allocates them to this afternoon.

That's easy - note the rear power car before you board at Kings Cross and the front power car after arrival at Inverness!
