It is an internal system only so you have to work for the railway and be permitted access (not all employees have this)

16:00 Peterborough - Grantham (ex The Cross) - I have 43 311 and 43 304. The back was definitely an XC hire in, but gen says 43 304 was elsewhere - just wondering if my eyes deceived me. The set had a failure on the guard-driver comms too, so was despatched on flags

So for example, 455708 and 455723 would just be 5708 and 5723.

Thanks - Having the 5 confused me, I probably could have guessed it if it was just '702' ect. on the front!

Seems the Southern Region practice is fading off with Southern, along with the 442's the 455's of Southern have the complete TOPS number too. Maybe we should start reporting the 377's under the SR numbering system

Thank Christ the nonsensical way of numbering is coming to an end, I much prefer the way it's done in 99% of the country. Just need SWT to put proper numbers on their 455s and we're sorted

Even 220s and 221s are getting their numbers put in more readable places, certainly the Virgin 221s at least. Shame they couldn't do it years ago when I was needing them
