Catch same train every day. Sometimes its a really old train sometimes its a nice one - same TOC.

Never know when you're going to get the nice train. :)

Coming home its always the same type - sprinter.

Any way to track which trains are where?

You can use the FGW website or app to track where the train is.

Your question is relating to specific units and their allocation on services, I'm afraid the answer is publically no.

Knowing which line and/or service you refer to might aid the discussion though. :)

Morning train 90% of the time is a really old thing. Tatty dirty and smelly. Not sure of the model. No carpets, seats ok no legroom.

Other 10% is a really nice train.

Would that be the good old 'Replacement Bus Service'?

What good would knowing do if you always get the same train? Give you the chance to mentally brace yourself before getting to the station?

From memory, ATW only use Sprinters on that line, but it could be a 158 (nice one, doors at the ends of carriages) or a 150 (horrible depending on seat arrangement, doors mid-carriage).

Mainly out of interest.

The nice is doors end of carriage separate. The scruffy one is like an older sprinter with no carpet, bus type doors (which seem to break down a lot).

They do also use pacers as well - I had a 143 on a Cheltenham - Maesteg last year.

In my experience, the 158s on the line are rather nice, and the 150s perfectly adequate and what I would expect for such a journey.

This is a 142 pacer. Is this the usual morning train you get?

And is the nice train a class 158?

(not my photos)

There is a Pacer diagrammed daily for working Maesteg to Cheltenham through the day.
