Hello all

Just out of interest is the AC2 held at the same venue as AC1?

Thanks in advance.

Both of the understanding information tests are timed but I can't remember how long for. I think you end up with around a minute per section, with each section having about 4 questions.

Edit:

No, I'm in SW7 for the AC2. The ac1 was in WC1B.

Chris - any tips?

How did you find/do on the SCAAT?

Did you complete all the Understanding information test?

Found the actual SCAAT much easier than the sheets generated by the program on here. The shapes were much clearer. I was doing about two thirds of every page on the actual test, compared to a third with the print out sheets on here.

The understanding information test yes, I complete all of it with a few minutes to spare. They are all very similar to the practice material, just longer.

I've no idea tbh. More than 5, less than 20. Just be consistent and accurate. Accuracy is important to focus on because of the pressures of the test!

I did my AC1 earlier in the week and was absolutely shocked at some people’s appearance…several guys in jogging bottoms, trainers and hoodies…unbelievable! As said before tests are very very similar to the practice material, just longer. It’s a tough couple of hours with a very small loo break in the middle. I’d say there were about 25-30 people on my session. Good luck everyone.

Now that's a contrast. In my session almost everyone was professionally dressed with the room nearly full minus 4/5 spaces. One person got kicked out for taking too long during the loo break, think he was 30 seconds late or something like that.

If anyone on here has had their AC2, do you have any advice? I'd massively appreciate it.

One part of the AC2 was listening to a message from a driver who had an accident in a tunnel. You have to then takes notes (the message will be played twice) and report the key points of what was said to the controller. This part is not difficult.

Then there's the competency interview with the usual questions. There's one person from HR and a train ops manager. They will probe your answers but it doesn't feel like a grilling. Good luck to those of you who get through

That's slightly reassuring, thank you.

I'm going to spend the rest of the week preparing competency answers. Only problem I have is I'm never too sure my example is long enough. But I'm sure they'd prefer a short well explained/justified example to a long winded one.

I'll need to be careful with the announcement test though as I have a mild stammer.

Passed AC1, not heard back from AC2 yet as it was only a couple of days ago. They said they will let people know within 10 days if they are successful.

From what I understand AC2 is the final stage. If you pass you get made an offer. *I think*

Hope we're not kept waiting for too long. Waiting for interview results is awful. On a side note, does anyone know how many people are being interviewed?

I swear I've never done so much interview preparation before in my life. I'm so nervous about Monday!

In my case I heard back pretty quickly. I took my AC1 last Saturday and was invited to AC2 on Monday.

You must have aced it. Did you complete all the information finding, information understanding questions? Scaat wasn't too bad, error ID was a little harder than the practice test.

Just want my results! Haha

Congratulations! Now the real preparation begins. :D

It appears that if your successful you hear back pretty quickly. I hope this carries onto AC2 results. After all competency interviews are usually scored against a sheet. If you get the required amount of points then you pass.

You have to get a minimum number of points, but you also must pass in all categories. So given there are 5 competencies you will need to score a minimum of 15, but you also must pass (ie. score at least 3) for each individual competency as well.
