ARRRGGHHH!!!!

Sorry, can't seem to manage to cut and paste a suitable link. Go to Google Maps, search Ashton Lane Partington, pan to the west a bit, zoom in, there's a tank wagon of some sort sitting on what is now a disconnected siding off the former CLC line from Skelton Junction.

Probably more fun following directions than just clicking a link?! Well, maybe....

Thanks Ben, but no, not by miles. Your link went to North Manchester.

Near the Manchester Ship Canal, north of the disused (but apparently not irrevocably closed) line from Stockport to Cadishead via Skelton Jct. About 500m
to the east of the Ship Canal, there's a spur to some former sidings aligned south-north. Zoom in on the sattelite image, and there's track intact with some sort of tanker wagon on.

For anyone wondering how to post the links: get Google Street View showing the desired angle then click the "chain" button to the top left. Make sure "Short link" is ticked then copy and paste the goo.gl/____ link.

Oh yes, so there is. A bit of Googling reveals that it is actually an abandoned VDA van, rather than a tanker, that was previously used as a barrier or "reach" wagon with the Shell chemicals trains that ran to the Carrington compound, where it still remains, completely isolated from the network!

Thanks Sprinty!

Oh! Mr Porter, what shall I do,
I wanted to go to Birmingham, and they've taken my tracks away,
Take me back to Warrington, as quickly as you can
Oh! Mr Porter what a silly van I am!!
