Chelford, about 7pm Thursday 10/04/2014:

Freightliner loco 70-008 southbound, not pulling anything.
Northern EMU 323-226 northbound, empty.

I've never seen a non-service 323 movement at that time of day along that line; Was it on its was to replace a faulty vehicle, or did some kind of timetable adjustment leave it at Crewe at a loose end?

5H13 18+13 Booked train Stoke-on-Trent to Longsight (via Alsager and Crewe - diversionary route knowledge) passed Chelford 18+59
This followed 5H22 18+16 Booked train Crewe to Stockport which passed at 18+29

They would be units returning North after Evening peak.

Arrived at Didcot around 11 am on Saturday 5th April 2014 (to visit the railway centre) just in time to see and photograph an unidentified 70 heading southwards with a freightliner. Loads of people on the platform ends but not able to find any info on this train or which loco it was. Anyone on here keep a record of movements that day or take a photo of this train? It was the first 70 I saw, just visiting the country for a few days.

Looking over a TOPS list and using Real Time Trains, I think it should have been 70017 on 4O27 Garston to Southampton

I have never been to Didcot, so don't have much knowledge of the area, but it doesn't seem to have been booked through the station. Although as it did pass North Jn 3 early but then passed East Jn 4 late, it may have gone through the station??

I've noticed this week that 2G54 0759 Maesteg to Cheltenham, which is booked for a pair of 150s, has just been a single 150. 150230, 150242 and 150245 have all worked it alone this week. Not quite sure why this is.
