007 had a door interlock issue ,006 had fuel quality issuesDoes anybody know the nature of the problems that are causing the failures? (preferably facts and not speculation )
Thanks
What sort of issues, if you know and can say? Related to the conversion and traction or some more ordinary stuff?769006 had issues again
Yes your right I forgot about that week, from my notes it seems 006 on the passenger runs and 007 on training. They ran on the week commencing 14th of December but not sure if any have operated since. So only a few days since the timetable change.
003 is out from 1002 (2P10) and should remain in service departing Rhymney southbound every 3 hrs and Penarth Northbound every 3 hrs from 1133Since the introduction of the new timetable in December I don't think the 769's have run a service. 003 was due to run the service this morning. Does anyone know what services they are on please. Before timetable change this ran the 2F08, 2R09, 2F12, 2R12.
Cheers thank you, yes I just saw it pass the house. I'm just trying to work out how it gets back to Rhymney. If it stays on service all day it's last run is the 2P19 terminating at Central then ECS into Canton. Does it then run ECS to Rhymney or does it terminate off the previous service the 2R17.003 is out from 1002 (2P10) and should remain in service departing Rhymney southbound every 3 hrs and Penarth Northbound every 3 hrs from 1133

Yes thanks Philipe, they have to fuel up. With the new timetable just trying to work out paths they are using, unless they swap with the training unit.If it went back to Rhymney every night it would run out of fuel
At the moment they would probably be working ad hoc depending on availability. 2P19 can't go through to Penarth due to Engineering work.Yes thanks Philipe, they have to fuel up. With the new timetable just trying to work out paths they are using, unless they swap with the training unit.
It goes to Canton for Fuel off 2P19 then comes back out for 2142 Cardiff - Rhymney. Likely to be doing this all weekCheers thank you, yes I just saw it pass the house. Heard a 769 failed today in between Queen St and Lisvane on the way up to Rhymney. Not sure of unit number or exact location. Power problems it seems.
It has been a 769 on most days recently. There is a regular diagram for it between Rhymney and Penarth all day. Post #1275 gives an insight into itHave a report from my partner that there is a 769 out today on 2R08 08:33 Penarth-Rhymney (sorry, she didn't take the number!).
769003. It’s been trundling up and down the Rhymney valley all week and is planned to keep going for the foreseeable.Have a report from my partner that there is a 769 out today on 2R08 08:33 Penarth-Rhymney (sorry, she didn't take the number!).
So, on those timings, the 769 is taking about 23% longer than the 150 to cover that half mile from a standing start! From a vantage point near Lisvane station it is possible to compare 769/150 leaving Lisvane and entering Caerphilly tunnel .For the 1/2 mile or so the 150’s are taking about 65 secs and the 769’s taking 80 secs.
From the footage I've seen, a 769 wouldn't have the power to reach 100mph, wouldn't get close unless going downhill. As the top speed of a 769 is 100 mph, maybe mid range performance is better,Covid prevents on train analysis.
not to mention no stretch of the line is 100 mphFrom the footage I've seen, a 769 wouldn't have the power to reach 100mph, wouldn't get close unless going downhill.
They keep to the timetable quite nicely. Once they get to 15mph they go really wellSo, on those timings, the 769 is taking about 23% longer than the 150 to cover that half mile from a standing start!
Not great, considering Porterbrook marketed the 769 on the claim that it would have similar performance to a 150.
They have 25 less horsepower than a 150 per car (50hp less for a 4 car train) and they can only do 75mph so 100mph on diesel is going to have to be downhill and even then will be a struggle. From the footage I've seen, a 769 wouldn't have the power to reach 100mph, wouldn't get close unless going downhill.
