The cynic in me wonders:
(a) How did they come up with such an imaginative name
(b) How much the pointless re-branding is going to cost. I mean, it's not as if money is tight at the moment and they have nothing better to spend it on!

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
Most probably thought that if the title of Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) seemed to give a more regional look with authority, they might as well do the same.

Let us hope that it does not spread, otherwise we will be having TfGYM (Transport for Greater Ynys Mon)...

You never know - some routes might see an increase in service and enjoy two buses per week instead of one! :D

It looks like it's just a slogan rather than a renaming exercise.

Yeah, it just looks like a slogan to describe what they do.

When they become a Combined Authority a name change may occur but I think most of the other PTE's unlike Manchester had distinctive brands already. In regards Transport for Lancashire there wasnt previously a PTE.

With Nexus becoming TfYI...

I'd go for Tyne and Wear Authority for Transport, personally.

That said, what have Metro done to their website? Half the links don't seem to work, especially the bit on bus timetable updates.

I see nothing wrong with having consistency in the name sof transport authorities across the UK. I mean, Nexus doesn't really convey much to me!!!

Just try connecting to one of the links they post on facebook or twitter - if you connect from a mobile device you're automatically redirected to the mobile homepage.

I've commented on this to them but had no response - I've given many comments since they changed their website. I'm usually told things will be looked into but there's things that have been outstanding over a year.

Their old website handled 404 errors very elegantly - now it gives script errors.
