It's rather irritating than none of the pubs at Huddersfield (2) or Dewsbury have departure boards.

no problem - I forgot to add there were some summer Sunday service trains through to Stanhope in the 80's/90's

Ah yes, got it now, that is on that Weardale heritage Line from Bishop Auckland isn't it.

Perhaps it was just this free on-line service, which automatically updates

http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/service/ldbboard/dep/NCL/?ar=true

There was a scrolling video, which included (not an exhaustive list)

- YouTube Channel, which was a bit 'You've Been Framed' style
- Pub Promotional bits and bobs (food offers, drink offers, accommodation, general photos, etc.)
- Train timetable for Newcastle, which looked like a bespoke screen and wasn't labelled up with National Rail, etc - but it was accurate to RTT as I checked on my phone as I was interested.

Long before the arrival of departure screens, but there used to be a prominent timetable poster advertising departures from Penrith, in the centre of Keswick!

In the Green Man Wetherspoons pub below ground along exit 9 at Bank LUL station. they used to have, and probably still do, a hand-written board showing the times of the last departures on the Underground lines from Bank. I haven't been there late enough myself to know whether they make announcements ten minutes or so before those times to encourage late-night City revellers to get home.

Yes, pretty sure I've seen that - or if it wasn't that one, there's one somewhere else where I've been, and I was in Keswick 2-3 years ago. Was on a wall, at a junction, if memory serves it was a bank building.

Here it is! In Keswick on Bank Street, attached to what seems to be a council building of some description.

Not a bad memory!

(17 miles away incidentally)

Slightly off topic, but the installation of PIS at Sugar Loaf is something I find both bizarre and wonderful! Where next? Berney Arms? Denton?

It's funny you should say that... The new East Anglia in franchise will be installing 131 new PIS screens at all of its stations... Which presumably includes Berney Arms!
