Used to be a Glasgow to Elgin , not sure if that still runs and a Glasgow to Kyle
Better than that, there's a Glasgow-Inverness via Aberdeen.

Similarly the 1258 SOT-MAN Monday to Friday calls at all from Stoke (except Longport) then non-stop Cheadle Hulme to Manchester PiccadillyThat is an oddity alright, and misses cheadle Hulme out too, despite slowing for the junction anyway, but I guess it stops people changing for Stockport! I don't know why you can't go to Stockport then, but they really have made sure you can't.
Do you know where the stock for this train originates?Schools throw up the odd unusual working, such as the 15.58 Ingatestone to Colchester.
07:34 Waterloo to Guildford
There are three regular routes between these stations, taking around...
via Guildford: 34 mins
via Cobham: 59 mins
via Epsom: 71 mins
This train runs an even more ‘scenic route’ via Richmond (where it used to start having run empties from Waterloo!), Ascot and Aldershot, which takes a whopping 111 minutes and includes a reversal enroute. It also runs non-stop between Egham and Ascot, skipping Virginia Water and Sunningdale, unlike any other services on the Reading line.
The section of track between Cowlairs North and East Junctions were once frequently used by the Fort William portion of the sleeper train. Since this has been re-routed via Glasgow Queen Street low level, the Summer Sundays Only Edinburgh Waverley - Oban still maintains a passenger service along that particular stretch of track, and also avoids having to go through a formal closure process.
Yes, my apologies - I meant via Woking! It runs on one reporting number throughout so is surely still worthy of a mention, as well as the fact I don’t think any other trains skip Sunningdale (with only one weekday up train skipping Virginia Water).Guildford via Guildford? You might need to edit something slightly.
The service you talk about is effectively a Waterloo to Reading and an Ascot to Guildford service shoved together.

Why have both stops skipped and pick up only at the same station in the peak when on different trains running what is ultimatly the same service?
One is pick up only, the others just skip, though. Why both?

Cars from the Car Sheds. Or Empty Coaching Stock from Ilford Electric Multiple Unit Depot if you don’t speak Great Eastern!
In the late 80s for a couple of years there was an early morning Cwmbran - Paddington HST which ran via Hereford. The evening return ran on to Newport (and strangely it called at Pontypool both ways as well as Abergavenny!).
Off-peak tickets were valid, making it was the earliest possible arrival at Paddington on a cheaper ticket, which is is possibly why it didn't start from Newport on the way up.
It would have run ECS from the Marsh via the Maindee Curve. In any case, who would want to travel from Newport to London via Hereford and the Cotswolds.
Doesn't it still run, though as an ECS these days?
