I hope this is the right forum, but anyway:
Is it possible to obtain TRUST if you dont work on the railways?

It'll be running on the computers wherever it is needed. How do you obtain it if you do?

TOPS
It does, if you have access to the Call Centre LDBs you'll see the headcode and the intermediate locations/junctions presented in a form similar to what you get when you TRJC a headcode.I believe that the live departures board on the National Rail website is run off the TRUST system, but it does not specify the headcodes.

That's not what the ORR seem to think it stands for! http://www.rail-reg.gov.uk/server/show/conGlossary.52

Correct, you can search/discover HC's, UID's and RSID's. Also display only a certain TOC at stations, view a train and all its passing points, and the actual reason its been cancelled, etc.
Even the automatic reporting can be wrong - had once the other week when the system said the train was here already but it wasn't.It is like many things only as accurate as what is put into it though. I once saw a freight train leave it's departure point, but the signaller didn't report it for over an hour, by which time it was a lot of miles away, and to confuse the matter, was over 2 hours late anyway.
Train RUnning System TOPS. I can tell you, it really isn't at all that exciting and to get your head around it will take a while, I can only remember the codes for functions I use regularly and I find its journey planning system a pain.

Its quite interesting except when they dont list the traction
The traction is listed on TSID as long as you are looking for units. Doesn't show locomotives.
If you know the headcode of the train, for example 4E33, type TRJC 4E33. That will bring up the schedule for that train, then type "V" which will then give you the consist with what ever loco/traction is used.
TSID is mainly used for line ups of specific locations, but highlighting the train required with a V will get you the same results as above.
