"Two Together Railcard -

Do both tickets have to have been produced in the same transaction?? I just had 2 people on the xx:xx EDB - PTH, one had a YRK - MNC Advance single (Two Together discount) and the other just had a single EDB - MNC (Two Together discount). Obviously there are many permutations as to how this may have arisen and why the 'other' person isn't/wasn't there, but does it make both tickets valid?

I just let it go without saying anything, not worth the hassle. Cheers, xxx"

Thoughts?....

Condition 3 of the Railcard terms and conditions states....

Both tickets must be bought together and both named cardholders must be travelling together to enable discounted tickets to be used.

....There is nothing to say the tickets must be the same as such, but that combination would raise questions from me.

Yes that what I was thinking. They don't necessarily have to be the same but I'd be asking some serious questions. Whether I'd actually ask those question of the passenger I'm not so sure particularly if they were both travelling together on my train!

Personally the only thing I can think of (other than the passenger with the York ticket just winging it) is that that York passenger was travelling with a different person on a different Two Together between York and Edinburgh.

It does beg the question though, where was the other half of the EDB-MNC pair of tickets?

Is Edinburgh a useful split point between York and Markinch?

And do Friends & Family, and Network Railcards have similar conditions?
