Which do you think its the current uglist and best looking modern train dating from the 00's (basically from the Turbostar units) right to the train currently being tested/delivered?

Diesel & electric trains, locos and coaches can be included.
Dose not include the ones thats currently under construction i.e class 93 and those that has been rebuilt i.e class 69/769/230

My pick for Best looking
Loco: Class 68
DMU: Class 180
EMU: Class 390

Ugly betty:
Loco: Class 70
DMU: Class 195
EMU: Class 376

Best
Loco: *The 68 / 88 Family.
UK DMU: Class 180, IR 22000 Class
EMU: Class 374, 397, 444.

Ugliest:
Loco: Class 67 - They aren't known ass Skips for nothing.
DMU: Class 172 - Particularly the West Midlands examples, Snouts on a Pig come to mind.
EMU: Class 80X - Jack of all trades, master of little. Doors and Windows act as a dirt trap.
EMU: Class 458 - Both the original and converted form.

*I would have chosen either the rebuilt 57/6s (for taking the Brush Type 4 design and keeping it modern) or the GB Caley 73s, but they are new enough so it has to go to the above loco choice. Both have taken an already timeless design and bought them right up to date.

On a side note anything CAF makes for the UK is ugly imo

I'm going to be contoversial here and overturn a few other members' opinions:

Lookers:

Loco - Class 60/92 (Sorry - I know they're from the 1990s, but I can't think of any nice looking classes from the 2000s).
DMU - Class 195
EMU - Class 331, 333 and 397

Uglies:

Loco-Class 68/88
DMU - Class 172 (West Midlands batch)
EMU - 380/385/777

On a side note, anything CAF makes for the UK is nice-looking imo - unless it has a gangway connection.

Had a thread like this before...
It seems to be a regular topic... each time it comes up, I probably give a different answer! Right now, I'm thinking:
Good-
Loco: 68 (+Nova3)
DMU*: 755
EMU: 745
Bad-
Loco: 70
DMU: 195
EMU: any/all Aventra units

*= by "DMU" I mean any self-powered unit that isn't dependent on a power supply from fixed infrastructure. Sure, technically the 755s are bi-mode, so if you want to be pedantic you can substitute the Welsh DEMU Flirts instead. ;)

Here are my selections:

Best looking
Locos: 66
DMUs: 180, 195
DEMUs: 220, 221, 222
EMUs: 331, 373, 374, 390, 395, 397, 700, 707, 745, 80x
The prize for very best has to go to the traction of the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway for me!

Worst looking
Locos: 70
DMUs: 139, 168, 170, 175, 185
EMUs: 357, 360, 376, 380, 385

I do think that train liveries influence what we perceive as 'good looking' or 'ugly', though. Some classes look good in one livery and awful in another.

EMU 313-319, 323.
These aren't 21st century I'm afraid

Likely have commented on a similar thread in the past, and no doubt my choices will change again when the next one appears!

Best
Locos: 68/88
D(E)MUs: 168/1s & /2s, 170/171 180, 195 & 220/221/222
EMU: 331, 334, 390, 395, 397 & 745
Bi-mode: 755

Worst
Loco: 70 (looks like a 58 that hit every branch of the ugly tree on it's way to Earth)
DMUs: 185 & 196/197
EMUs: 376, 380, 385, 458 & 717

Likely have set the cat amongst the pigeons with a few of those choices! lol

Nothing overly controversial in there, other than the hedging of bets. ;)

Starting to feel a bit bad for the 70s even though I voted them as ugly a few weeks ago. Do the rebuilt 73s or the 57/3s count?

True, but there no doubt will be one choice out of all of those that has (or will) wound someone up something fierce. But hey, different horses, different courses and all that. :)

As far as modern diesels go, I've got something of a soft spot for the 70s. Looks - and overall reliability! - obviously are what's stuck in everyone's mind and for good reason, but I've got something of a soft spot for them when it comes to sound.
