Hi all

I'm in York at the moment, I've bought a plusbus but for some nagging reason don't think I can use it on the No 9 bus to Monks Cross Park + Ride - I'm off to York v Sheffield Eagles. The nearest bus service to the Huntingdon Stadium is the 9, the 12 doesn't go there to Monks Cross on Sundays

Anyone confirm if I can use plusbus on the 9?

Monks Cross is shown on the map as MC and First is shown as participating so it looks fine to me!

If I am not mistaken, all York P&R routes are included in the PlusBus scheme.

I've used Plusbus on the P&R to Designer Outlet before without issue.

That was what sent me into a panic if I'm quite honest, because it was a P&R bus, I wasn't sure.

No issues, easy journey and a short walk from Monks Cross P&R to the ground. The Eagles won, even if they didn't deserve it

York's P&R routes are unusual in that they all double up as local service buses, unlike the vast majority of other P&R services in this country. There was a feature in Buses a few years back regarding this particular network.

That is the main reason why they are included in the PlusBus scheme AFAIK as opposed to many other areas.

Is that unusual?

P&R buses I've come across in Cambridge, Nottingham and Leeds all act as local service buses too (though some don't use all stops).

The only system I've come across where the service was only for the Park and Ride was in Leicester - and in Derby the D1 is non-stop but the 111 is a normal bus service too.

Hmm, yes. I should have said "were" instead of "are".

Many P&R routes weren't included in the PlusBus scheme when it was first introduced, but things have changed quite a bit over recent years. I was commenting on what I read in that article which is itself a few years old.

Just for information - the specific P & R services in Oxford and Chester do not stop between the car park and the city centre.

However, the Oxford P&R service stops about 1900 if I remember correctly, and then tickets are valid for return on the "normal" service buses which stop outside the Car Parks.
