Hi all

I received an email during the week inviting me to a recruitment event in Glasgow for an on board customer service assistant. I replied confirming my attendance. Also heard about some of the tests that they use on the day.

Does anyone know how many they invite to these events? Just wanted to assess my chances. Like many others it is the group assessment I don't really fancy.

Any tips to prepare would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I received the same email. I presume since it stated large scale recruitment , there may be loads of people. Also there was going to be limited slots, and that it was first come first served. Thinking they will confirm more details after the 8th, if this is the same email you received. I stated Glasgow as my preferred location.

I also received the same email and replied on the 4th. However, the email stated you will not receive a reply... This may sound silly but I am assuming they will send another notification explaining times/location? It was all very vague.

Yes it was pretty vague. I'm guessing they meant they won't reply to say they got the email you sent saying yes or no. But no doubt the email with where we are going will come at some point. Noon today was the deadline.

See here for a discussion about what is typically involved at a VT open day for onboard CSA's.

As to the numbers on the day, I've known it to be as low as 4 and as high as 15 so no guarantees, and there are often more than one sessions in a day.

I know in the past Virgin have done the assessments in their offices at Glasgow Central station, although that was for a position only open to internal staff - it may be different for externals.

Hi 1006. I got my final invite yesterday afternoon. They did say it was a large event so might just be taking a while getting through them.

oh no:cry: Maybe I'm not getting a final invite then, I replied straight away. Good luck to you anyway

Well almost straight away, as soon as I seen my email, so that was a couple of hours after I received it.

Thank you but that might not be the case for you. A couple hours after receiving the email is still reasonably quick in my opinion. Chin up, there is still time.

Well I have come to accept the fact "the final invite" is just not coming.

Hope to hear how everyone on here gets on, with the big event. Best of luck.

I've put my interview outfit back in the wardrobe!

Thanks for getting back to me. I replied back about 3 hours after I received the email because I was in work. And didn't get it till I finished. Am so annoyed, obviously they have sent these emails to us because we have tried applying to other positions before. And were interested in us. Just sucks tbh. Ow well. Yeh I no it's tue was just gonna turn up and be like you forgot one more lol.

Thanks for that, put my mind at rest.... kinda! :| I suppose with the amount of people they had to sift through then it's no surprise it's maybe taken a bit longer than they suggested, and as you say it will make for a long w/e waiting to hear. Good luck!

Unless they have automated emails we probably won't hear anything until at least Monday now. So does look like it's taking a bit longer for them to look at the applicants.

Never made it either. I really didn't expect to though, unless you really stood out it was always going to be difficult due to the sheer numbers of people.

I also missed out. I'm disappointed because it was a great opportunity. Found it a bit unfair that the video clip filming was sprung on us. It means that some people could use their confidence to hide a possible inability to do the job. And there was also friends and family of Virgin staff attending so many of us probably never stood a chance regardless of how well we performed.

Do not want to sound like am going poor me but the rail company I work for had or has a part on their forms asking if family work for them, when I was at this event I looked around and I knew who they wanted straight away, you could tell who the virgin staff were interested in by the length of time certain people there were getting to spend with the virgin staff there, I think the day was really just a way for them to get the number down before the real tests start this week and following weeks.

I didn't get through either, gutted :(

Also think it's terrible they made us wait the whole weekend to give us a 'no' on Monday morning, the process is unprofessional.

:sad::sad:

There's maybe only 4/5 people from 30 at each event who gets to the next stage. I felt I was confident at the event but knew that I didn't stand out, so therefore knew I wasn't going through. To be honest I'm not that fussed.

No you are right Peter. I've heard too many stories of this sort of thing happening with people being shoe ins for a job. We all spent money on passport photos and travel costs to get to Glasgow when there was probably no point in attending. I'm sorry but having 'personality' as Virgin put it doesn't save lives if a train has to be evacuated.

That's the problem. I don't think the day was set up in a way where people could display it. I only had one member of staff approach me to talk and that lasted seconds before he walked off.

Long and short there are a lot of disappointed people who are out days wages and travel costs, just need to move on, I hope whoever gets these posts enjoys them as they pay well and once your in your well looked after.

Has anyone heard of anyone getting invited to stage 2? I still haven't had an email to tell me either way!

Has anyone else heard of people not hearing anything back from
Virgin? I still haven't had a yes or no although I'm assuming its a no with Stage 2 being tomorrow. Does anyone know how to contact them without going to voicemail?
