It was checked out on snopes and it indicated that this is true

Fred, e-mails like this are usually hoaxes so it is best to ignore them. Just make sure your virus checker is up to date and don't open attachments from someone you don't know or if you are not expecting an attachment.

The best defence against viruses is common sense - don't open files which are obviously dodgy.

hotmail is notorious for phising scams - I get loads from so called Lloyds TSB and Abbey National (I don't have a bank account with them!!) which are really badly translated from french to english. the other stupid ones that i sometimes get are "1n 1998 a plane crashed and some guy lost $88bn australian dollars and as my official business partner :shock: you are entitled to 35% of this... and so on"

Every email account is equally liable to recieve junk and phishing emails. That's where your filters come in ....
