Isn't the current bus station too small?
Could they use the old carpark, as an extra bus station?
At one time, there was a plan to extend the number of bays, beyond bay 29. It would have taken that plot of land towards the river bridge.

This Yutong E9... I hope they do, there's no reason why they are any less feasible than other available options, and they have proven to be reliable across many operators. And before anyone says 'well it's because they're foreign and foreign = bad', that isn't a great argument any more, as even your favourite ADLs (even if not fully) are built elsewhere!

Not sure yet.. they are the only two I've heard so far but it may become a standard order for trent and seep their way to these routes if it does go ahead.
That silver Yutong could well be the one that was at the NEC bus show

I guess they could "Switch" manufacturers.
Quite a small range with switch... I doubt they would go with them since their products on their site just dont look like products. The only ones that look proper are the solo srs, metrocity and metrodecker... If they were to get the solos Srs id think it would be easier for them to convert the current ones to EV's instead.

The current slimline solos are essentially life expired being 17 years old so there's absolutely no chance that they'll be covered to EVs.

Not the sprint solos, i meant the SR's which are 10ish years old so drastically younger. 498/501/2/3. Though 498/502/3 are in mango so im unsure about if they would be allowed to convert them fully

There are many reasons as to why that won't happen but the paint scheme the vehicles are currently in is not one of them.

I more meant the paint scheme would suggest the actual owner so when they go back to tb eventually (if they even did..) I doubt they would want ev's randomly appearing in the fleet

What others? I think I've said before that they'd do well on the Comet, Sixes, and Swift, and both the Sixes Versas and Swift Volvos have their fair share of reliability issues.
Unfortunately none of those routes make enough money to sustain brand new buses Especially the comet.

That's what I'd have thought. Replace Riverside with the Coach platforms (& maybe Red Arrow drop off), and merge the current coach stands into the bus station. As each coach stand currently has extra space for the pavement in-between they could get rid of and make it like the rest of the stands, they'd get an extra one at least.

With the Comet, I feel like it's a bit of 'build it, and they will come'. Whenever I see one, they always look packed, and it's easy to see why when you look at the route. Derby and Chesterfield are major places, and Ripley, Alfreton and Clay Cross are all decent sized towns as well, not to mention the villages between them. I feel like the Comet could easily support a 30 minute frequency, maybe more. I feel like the corridor's getting somewhat neglected by Trent.

Not just Trent. Stagecoach dropped Alfreton completely, and the A61 corridor has a fairly limited service considering the housing density. Personally, I'd like to see Hulleys introduce a fast bus to Alfreton to compliment the 55, but they don't have the resources for that.

Really? I thought sixes was one of the most profitable from Derby?
Most people I know have stopped using it, due to unreliability.

Yet when I see them, south of Alfreton they look fairly empty. But remember this. Just because a bus is fairly full, does not mean it is making a profit. Is it covering direct costs? Overheads too?

Yes, but a lessee has the Riverside site, and can put what they like on the site, subject to planning permission. So it won't be a bus station

There is only one Wellglade bus being converted to straight electric at the moment.

Yutong E9L demo is out today on route 12, tracking as 9999

Hey, if anyone wants a great view of Wellglade operations in Derby bus station 24 hours a day, with all home comforts... Derbyshire Live report on a plan to demolish the Riverside Multi Storey car park and build apartment blocks up to 16 storeys high. Clearly, the number of shoppers coming into Derby now, has dropped post COVID.
What a joke - more unaffordable rip-off apartments in the city centre. Council of course in support to get more council tax for the same space. Would be interesting where all those parking spaces would come from for the residents.
They should extend the bus station, or make it a green space at least.

Parking spaces? Car will be banned? Residents will have to catch the bus... Trouble is , the City Council has housing targets

So you think that a private landowner will be altruistic and not develop a prime site?
