Is there any particular reason why Skylink Derby has difficulty running to the advertised timetable? I walked from Derby Station into town this evening (Sat) at 7.30 pm and two Skylinks passed me on Siddals Road, no more than a minute apart.

Assuming they aren't running extra journeys, it must be very annoying for anyone expecting a 15 minute frequency to have two running together followed by a 30 minute gap!
I've noticed it happen quite a lot recently.
Needless to say, bunching-up of buses was bound to occur more frequently once the frequency was increased as buses get closer to each other when for whatever reason the timetable is thrown out of kilter. (It seldom happens on Arriva's 127 nowadays now that it's less frequent than the Skylink, although funnily enough I spotted two running quite closely towards Shepshed yesterday evening.)

The timetable is altered quite a lot for journeys at this time of day, I assume to allow for traffic.

The 17:30 and 17:45 from Leicester arrive in Derby just 10 minutes apart, and there are only 7 minutes between their departures at certain stops prior to this. Couple that with a 20/25 minute gap since the previous journey and you can see why these two may bunch.

There are small notices attached to some bus stops on Station Road in Mickleover with the Notts & Derby logo and a message "new service from this stop coming soon" but no other details - nothing on the N&D website.

I wonder if this could be the bus to the new housing at Hackwood at the end of Station Road
I noticed something Notts and Derby branded attached to the stops near the hospital the other day.

Stops on Station Road at the Methodist Church and end of East Avenue - now that I'm looking out for them also on the 2 stops on Uttoxeter Road at the end of Corden Avenue and Chain lane. At a guess, a bus going straight down Uttoxeter Road to the Tesco island, then straight down Station Road.

I did look for new registrations, I thought those two are for the 147/8 that Notts & Derby are taking over from 1 November but had missed the route numbers

Taken in high zoom from a bus heading the other way - the wording is actually "new service coming to this stop soon"

Would be funny if it was a sister service to the X38 to steal market share from Arriva.
But it isn't.

They will be very interesting routes, that I feel could grow into more such routes. Won't be long before they start ..

From the above it sounds like 2 new routes linking areas to the Royal hospital, and that the services are at least partly funded by new housing developments. I'm sure further details will be available soon.

Three more of the loaned white MMCs, nos. 273, 274 and 276, have reportedly been transferred to Kinchbus. I was rather surprised to see 274 heading into town to run the Sprint this morning!

What are the chances that these could just be bought in the end?
