What coal based infrastructure has been/could be rationalised?

There must be quite a lot of track and junction capacity, and maybe even whole lines, that were largely occupied with the coal mine/docks to power stations circuits, particularly in Yorkshire.
Is any of it totally redundant and fit for removal/mothballing, or is it all too useful for intermodal, diversions, and new passenger services?
I think the Settle and Carlisle is probably untouchable before anyone suggests that!

The conveyor tunnel between Portbury Dock and Avonmouth should be widened out so that Portishead passenger services could be routed via the Severn Beach or Henbury lines.

In other words a brand new tunnel.
