Lets throw another car thread up :p

Anyway, what car/motorbike/van/truck/bus do you own or drive?

Me, I don't own it, but I take a great interest in it, this 1998 E39 BMW 535i SE, with piped leather seats and loads of kit :)

I currently drive an 03 plate Ford Ka.
It's a Ka Style, so not quite the base model and it's got the Duratec engine so it has 70bhp and is somewhat more refined than the Endura-E. I ( bought it in December last year with 51k on the clock, and it's just about to clock over to 61k - which isn't bad considering that I didn't drive it for about 5 months.

Recently I've also been driving a T reg Scania P94D 290. It's nice that, because it used to be a drawbar wagon, it's got 290bhp whereas most of them tend to be 230. When I last drove it a few weeks back, it had 727000kms on the clock. Should be driving it again in the next week or so, so I'll see what it's up to then.
I have to say, in the short time I was driving it, I rather liked the split 'box.

Good luck with your training!

I failed it in 2007 and never got around to taking the test again!

Sounds like the gearbox in the Iveco I used. 4 hi and 4 lo?

I've just got the CPC module 4 to do, but will get to drive the truck to and from the test centre.

Yep :)
It locked out a couple of times, including getting locked in high range whilst practicing reversing. Thankfully it didn't lock out during the test.

A 2004 Citroën C2 called Helen.

She does about 55 miles per gallon so I'm reluctant to replace her...77000 miles on the clock and counting.

You don't have to answer this if you don't want to, but what made you decide to give you C2 a name, and why Helen? I'm intrigued...

Didn't you see the One Show last night? Everyone names their cars! I named my car Helen after the Paul McCartney song "Helen Wheels".

I don't anything at the moment, but we did used to have a proper Mini (not MINI), but they sold it to "upgrade" to a boring hatchback. Pity, I could've been part of the Mini owning community and gone to Owners' Club gatherings & things. And it never broke down once, unlike the Hatchback.
I would like to drive some sort of classic car; not necessarily an E-Type or something, but perhaps an old BMW or something. I'm afraid that most modern cars apart from BMW, Mercedes-Benz and the current Jaguar range I find about as interesting as a fridge.

I've just got a new car, well company car

My previous company car was a 58 VW Golf 1.9TDI Bluemotion match. Cheap on company car CO2 tax and nice to drive.

Just got the new 61 plate VW Golf 1.6TDI match Bluemotion Technology. Love it, completley love it. Doesn't cost alot on tax, DAB radio, cruise control, AC, parking sensors, iPod and MP3 compatible. Obviously these aren't the fastest of cars but they are cheap on tax and are loaded with extra's, the DAB radio is superb. I have a taxed fuel card as well so all in all it's a decent package.

I've had the new Golf 7 days and have covered 1,100 miles already.

Sounds like when I had a brand new corsa courtousy car for a couple of weeks when mine was off the road, asside from being auful in every way, it had 432 miles when I got it, and then I got bored and drove down to Bristol one weekend, then up to Keswick the next, add in the 50mile commute to work and it went back with 2304 on the clock, in 11 days :D

That Rover looks absolutely amazing, has it had a body restoration, as the paint looks perfect?

Thanks.. it's had the nearside done earlier this year with replacement doors etc, the offside needs doing to match really, it's only had three previous owners so has been looked after, thankfully. The first owner was a company director, which is quite common with early Series 2 3500s, hence why a lot of them have survived. A lot of P6s tend to be hiding nasty horrors, though as the panels bolt onto a base unit so it's easy to disguise bodges. The whole car recently had a proper polish with a rotary mop, as well as having lots of welding underneath for the MOT, with extra thickness steel to make it last. Just when I thought I'd got on top of everything, it now appears that the windscreen seal has gone.... another big job on the horizon!

The V8 lump sounds wonderful.... it's a bit thirsty mind ;)

Seems to just be standard practice for the training companies, I suppose there are still enough manuals about for it to be worthwhile.
Mind you, I was speaking to the instructor about another company who'd been trying to find a rigid Scania with a manual to replace their old one, and hadn't been able to find anything suitable.
