On the CrossCountry wiki page it lists this figure: Passenger KM - 1,136.6 million. I've had a search on the forum and can't find anything explaining what this figure means so would be grateful if someone could explain it for me.

Thanks.

I would assume it is either;
a) The total number of passenger kilometres travelled under XC in that year
or
b) The highest mileage recorded by a single passenger, one Kevin Murchison, a basher of Stourbridge, in that year.
On immature consideration, the latter seems unlikely.:lol:

That can mean 1,136.6 million people travelled 1 km each or 1 person travelled 1,136.6 million on XC trains, of course its a bit of both.

Would it be possible to travel 1km on XC? The best way I can think of would be a couple of times between Waverley and Haymarket. No wonder they always seem overcrowded!

It's CrossCountry's 'share' of distance based on allocations in Lennon - in the same way that passenger journeys are allocated. If you know the number of journeys and the distance travelled, you can work out the average km/journey which is likely to be mucher higher than that of London commuter TOCs.

FWIW it's actually "Passenger km" not "Passenger KM."

I bet if it was just one passenger travelling 1,136.6 million km on XC he still couldn't get a seat.

I wonder if he would prefer to stand for those 1,136.6 million km anyway? Imagine have to withstand Voyager seating discomforts for that amount of time...

If he was the only passenger that they had all year then he'd only have himself to blame for any odours from the toilet...
I'm not so sure, having seen some of the staff... <D
