Yesterday not today, but doing 2/3 of the Yorkshire three peaks, the first challenging walk (15 miles / 3100 feet of climb approx) since the latest load of problems with my achilles.

And it was a perfect day for it too - clear blue sky, nice and warm.

Without being too explicit, sweetcorn is pretty much the same when it comes out as when it goes in. Sorry about that.
It's the "Houdini" vegetable. When it comes out, the outer husk remains - but the actual corn has gone. Just like an escape artist out of a box!
My son's big fascination with that digestive phenomenon, makes me chuckle every time!

I rarely check my bank account, but discovered today that Nationwide had today dropped £100 into my account as a result of their Virgin money take over, and my other bank had popped a few quid in for some hitherto undeclared unaccrued interest they owed me. Oh and I randomly found a 20p coin in the bank today as well.

It’s not often I find money I didn’t know I had, but to do so three times in a morning really cheered me up!

Didn't receive an email or letter like many but got a text message from Nationwide saying i have £50 in my account that wasn't there yesterday. That'll be a decent rail trip coming up.

Perhaps the Nationwide customers of this parish can explain why their Lincoln branch has a replica dinosaur in the window. This made me smile and quizzical this morning.

The Twin Peaks Gala at EVR and Peak Rail :D

This hobby is such a release from the trauma of the real world for me!

This actually refers to Thursday 10 April. The two pictures below show a bridge over the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal near Crickhowell, where we were staying with my wife's sister. Instead of a normal set of steps you get from the roadway down to the canal towpath by means of these stones jutting out from the wall. I got up the three beside the road and sat astride the parapet (as my granddaughter is doing, the following day). Looking down at the much larger number of steps on the other side I decided I shouldn't attempt it. But in getting back down the three steps to the roadway I missed my footing and fell. Wham! At least it's earth or grass and not tarmac. Nothing happy about that, but after an x-ray and a scan at the Minor Injuries Unit at the hospital in Abergavenny I was assured that I hadn't fractured anything. I'm really relieved, as the consequences might have been serious. But am I stiff!

Watching all 3 versions of Eric Sykes’ classic film The Plank one after the other. I couldn’t choose my favourite as all three have their merits. I’d never seen the first version Sykes and a Plank before.

It made me happy this morning to post a new thread in Other Transport titled "Planning Journeys Avoiding Roadworks" which I hope may be of interest and benefit to some of you.

Hope you have a good and happy day!

Attending our depots annual pensioners reunion. I have not been able to go for the last two years so it was very nice to catch up with many old (some very old) friends.

Today - taking out too many clothes for the weather. In Spring every town or resort needs a left luggage space so we can dump all the coats, scarves and brollies we don't need, until 7pm when we will.

A unexpected bonus sunny afternoon in the garden, and 14 sacks of 40mm slate and several plants later, phase 1 of the back garden revamp is complete. Very satisfying

Enjoyed a good day out today with my daughter and young grandson at Brooklands Museum - at 20 months old he particularly enjoyed sitting behind the steering wheel of some of the cars and buses. I hadn't been there for a number of years and my daughter had never been so it was an enjoyable time all round.

Too far from an HST...
Walking home from my walk in the rain.
Maybe a little strange but always gets a chuckle out of me when it starts pouring it down.

Plus, I quite like the rain anyway - it's relaxing to me.

Glad you enjoyed it! Being engaged with the elements and ones environment is great for mental health and happiness. My "happy place" in the environment is when I can watch what I call "the big sky" by which I mean being in a place where I can see to the horizon (such as looking out to sea). When I do that it makes me feel grounded and content with life.

Seeing Max Verstappen beaten into fourth place in the Miami grand prix.
But that belongs in another thread
