white signs on platform walls

I've wondered what these are for a while, they appear on the wall of the edge of platforms:

the colour of the "slider" seems to vary between green and red across the network!

Datum plates, we generally get a thread per week at least! :lol:

A quick forum search for "Datum" should provide more.

But if you dont know they are datum plates you wont know what to search for!

If nobody else asks next week I will, I havent asked yet! :lol:

Maybe a sticky about "white signs" or "platform plates" would work?

Although I'll always maintain that volume control for the tannoy should be the default answer.

Nahh they are noise control plates. The slider controls how loud the train is allowed to be. ;)

Re information on the plate.

Design position or Existing position.
Vertical rail position in relation to structure.
Horizontal rail position in relation to structure. (not just used on platforms)
Location along the structure.
Cant.
Which track is involved.

Anything else I missed?

Just to confirm that the CANT displayed will vary on red plates, as these are installed whilst the track is in place. However they should always show the design cant with Green blocks. The plate in the picture above has clearly been installed wrong because you can't have a designed can't at 1mm lol.
