Noticed this today when driving along the M9.

Anyone know what it was for? Route learning? It was a Class 158, seems to run every Monday.

At a guess, possibly learning but more likely retention given the need to keep up route knowledge without otherwise regular services.

It is booked to run every Monday to Thursday.

There are also the following two trains which run in passenger service every week day:

1N80 0713 Kirkcaldy to Glasgow Queen Street

1N79 1734 Glasgow Queen Street to Markinch

But those are presumably worked by Glasgow-based drivers; whereas this service is a chance for the Edinburgh lot to have a go at it.

Not 100% certain, but I think those are Edinburgh drivers. Glasgow drivers will need to know the route to though for any Glasgow-Dundee-Aberdeen diversions.
