Whats the green ?
The normal convention used is that ‘green goes’.
Yes, green is anything to be removed/replaced.

Red, Green, and Black are almost universally used for New, Removed, and Existing in rail functions (and I believe it's mandatory on engineering drawings). Other colours (Blue normally, can be purple and orange as well) are used for showing other things like future provision not being built now.

From experience, Blue is "Modified Existing" e.g. adjusting heights/staggers while keeping the same catenary/contact.

I've also seen blue as 'Other project dealing with this' or 'option we'd like but probably don't have the budget for'. Depends what stage and discipline of plan is being looked at!

From the horse's mouth, blue means 'existing asset to be modified' on a Network Rail drawing

Sounds like lazy incompetence!
On whose part? Network Rail has a budget for enhancements and if it is forecast to be an overspend then some projects will be paused. Other projects will be more developed so will be seen out to completion.

Originally yes, that weekend was being used for the York Third Line scheme. I gather a couple of weeks ago the DfT instructed Network Rail to pause work on the scheme due to budget challenges. It meant Operators had to quickly put their timetable back which most managed, but LNER chose to leave calls at York limited to the trains that were planned to call there in the amended timetable, not sure why (perhaps to do with the reservation system?).

Not clear what the fate of the project will be.
Tens of new OLE structures have been installed to facilitate the third line. It's only a pause (for now)

If you read what I was replying to it was regards LNER choosing not to reinstate calls into there services.

There's a pinch point for passengers on platform 8 by the bridge. Moving the bay to the other side (originally platform 12) would give more circulation space and a cross platform connection.
Things may be too tight at the turnout end, however.

The Harrogate trains cause lots of congestion on the north now they are half hourly. So it effectively gives them their own line to reduce conflicts (not remove). It's gone under radar especially with everything else in York going on.

It effectively gives all down slow services their own line. The Harrogate line trains could ideally be doing with moving to the Eastern side of the station and sharing the bays with the Scarborough services. Although that would require an expensive flyover and most likely a TWOA.

I quite like the fact that NR can manage
enhancement projects like this without it becomming a farse. Somethimes I don't think they get enough credit for doimg so.

Why would you move the Harrogate line services to the East side other than being marginally closer to the city centre?

Mainly to ease overcrowding on the island and the bridge.

Apart from this it would make it much easier for those with Prams and in wheelchairs. The existing platform 8 is rather narrow.

Having said this I also think the service should carryon to Selby and Hull.

The Harrogate services should really just use (one of) 10/11 and share it with the 2Txx Micklefield stoppers, effectively acting as a terminating platform only.

Extending them through to Selby/Hull is a disaster waiting to happen.

I see.

It doesnt help that the subways at York are woefully underused.

I use York daily and wouldnt say the footbridge is overcrowded, busy certainly but nowhere near the extents of the Leeds footbridge. The biggest issue is that it doesnt have lifts so you have people unaware of the subway lifts dragging cases and bikes up there.

A flyover would be exceedingly expensive and you wouldnt be able to put anything into the bays as the platform end is basically on the bridge over the river at this point.
