Can anyone explain why the anytime single fare from York to Scarborough (with a railcard) is £10.50, while the off-peak fare is £11.80? I mean, who's going to pay £1.30 more to have their available travel times restricted?

Thanks.

£10.50 is the Anytime Day Single.
£11.80 is the Off-Peak Day Return.
£13.75 is the Off-Peak Return (valid at any time but no break of journey on the outward portion).
£17.25 is the fully flexible Anytime Return.

It didn't specify anywhere that it was a return. This was in the list of options for single tickets.

But thanks anyway.
