8 19 June 2009, Balangir, Orissa. The girl, who is yet to be identified, was reportedly thrown out of Rayagada-bound Tapaswini Express. She was traced by the Railway police and brought to Balangir headquarters hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Sources said the girl boarded the train at Sambalpur and was thrown out of the train at about 8 am in between Loisingha and Balangir. Eye-witnesses said the girl was sleeping and suddenly found herself on the track.
Recurrence of such incidents has panicked the passengers and put the railway police in a spot of bother.
Police suspect the acts are handiwork of an organised gang. On condition of anonymity a senior official said members of a gang use to travel from Rayagada to Bargarh everyday. They steal valuables from the passengers and on seeing a passenger observing them, they push him out of the train.
This is the fourth such incident in this route. Last year, a labourer lost a leg when somebody pushed him out of the train in Balangir. A man of Kalahandi district too was found dead in the route last year. A week back, a young labourer Ajad Kumar Paswan of Bihar was found on the track at Laderbahal near Loisingha railway station in an unconscious state after being pushed out of a running train.

This has become a norm for indian railway authority (railway police & ticket collector) to demand bribe and throw people out of the running train, even if they have a valid ticket. The government and authority has done nothing to prevent precious lives of innocent people.
No one must die just because they can't buy a ticket for their train journey.
In spite of making huge profits for last 5 years, Indian Railway has failed to improve security of the passengers. This is not a single incident, this has been going on for a long time. The authority has simple turned a blind eye to save people from throwing out of the running train.
