This was a difficult one. I've tried to be unbiased but was unable to include less than three songs from Duran Duran, because they have so many decent songs to choose from.

My favourites, in order, complete with the albums which they came from and the years which they were released:

1) Duran Duran - Save A Prayer: Rio (1982)
2) Japan - Quiet Life: Quiet Life (1979)
3) Simple Minds - Promised You A Miracle: New Gold Dream (1982)
4) Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart: N/A (1980)
5) The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony: Urban Hymns (1997)
6) Frederic Mercier - Spirit: Pacific (1978)
7) Duran Duran - Being Followed: All You Need Is Now (2010/11)
8) Gary Numan - Music For Chameleons: I, Assassin (1982)
9) Mark Ronson & The Business Itnl - You Gave Me Nothing: Record Collection (2010)
10) Duran Duran - Sound of Thunder: Duran Duran (1981)

Out of these, I urge you to give the following tracks a listen:

Chances are that few of you will know several of my choices. Probably 10 I can think of at the moment, rather than all time top 10.

Doors - Not to touch the earth.
Grand Funk Railroad - Inside looking out.
Earth & Fire - Love quivers.
Country Joe & The Fish - Who am I ?
Rare Earth - I heard it through the grapevine.
Moody Blues - The minstrel's song.
Led Zeppelin - Black Dog
Rolling Stones - I'm free.
Green On Red - No man's land.
Xit - Colour nature gone.

Another day, it might be a rather different list...

My music tastes depend on what mood i'm in on a given day for example one day i could go for classical another i may enjoy heavy metal.
Interestingly since someone mentioned Ramstien, a friend of mine introduced me to their stuff a while ago and looked at me gone out when i sang most of the song in English. I quickly explained that i'm a reasonable German speaker, mainly due to a pen friend in Germany whilst at school, and several trips to the mother of all race tracks, the Nurburgring, with a BMW owners club.
