Last time we were in the third tier it took us a decade to get out, so the ball is in BCFC's court!
That's BCAFC please! But at least if you guys give us ten years to escape the cess pit that is L2, we might have a chance of being in the same division!

Many will remember with horror, the time that Manchester City found themselves in that tier, but look at where they are now.
With all due respect to my neighbouring team, I don't think there is any danger of Huddersfield Town doing a Man City.

Not a good day financially for me, Luton are all but mathmatically relegated after losing 3-1 @ West Ham. They are 3 points behind Forest who have 2 games left (Luton only have 1 ) and Forest have a far superior goal difference.
Still the money I won on my own team - Pompey, will keep me going for a while yet.

It has more or less been confirmed that all three teams promoted to the Premier League from the Championship last season have been relegated. Apparently this last happened in 1998, which is far less common than I first thought!

All over bar the shouting up north. Celtic good value for a 2-1 win over Sevco Rangers that makes the gap six points with two to play. And we get to play them again in the cup final in a fortnight. Deep joy.

Be interesting to see what happens next season when Leicester & Ipswich + 1 from Leeds, Norwich, Southampton & West Brom have a go.
I reckon at least 1 of these will be mid table, but I wont put any money it!

Nottingham Forest have lost 3-2 at home to Chelsea so the relegation fight will officially go to the final day of the season but will take an enormous goal swing to change positions

Well, we gave it a go and dragged it out to the penultimate game of the season but it wasn't to be. I am immensely proud of the way my team and my club have gone about things this season when we knew from the off that we were likely to be out of our depth.

They were certainly the most impressive of the 3.

Regardless of the clubs involved, it is a pity and hopefully not a sign of things to come. I still remember Nottingham Forest winning promotion to the top division one season and the title the next; Something that will never happen again!

Not a great deal has changed in the long run as I believe that 9 of the top ten all time rankings have finished in the top 10.
I think WBA are missing replaced by either West Ham or Brighton
Edit : Everton are missing too, I will have to check my stats on my laptop.
2nd Edit
1. Arsenal
2. Liverpool
3. Man Utd
4. Everton
5. Spurs
6. Chelsea
7. Man City
8. Villa
9. Newcastle
10. West Ham

West Brom are 11th

Arsenal have beaten Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford to remain one point ahead of Manchester City. Once again Casemiro was at fault keeping the Arsenal players onside for the goal.

Mazraoui (not Mazrouri) was onside when you look closer. de Ligt wasn’t involved initially.

Whether he was onside or not, the linesman is not supposed to put his flag up!!!
Specsavers mate.

His knee was offside when the ball was played forward.

Plenty of stills available if you want to find them.

Couldn't give a flying how you spell it!

I wonder what changed for the c1t1zen5

Funnily enough I was talking to an old friend who's been a Manchester City fan since the late 80s... he admitted that the success his team has enjoyed in recent years leaves a slightly bitter taste. His exact words were "I'm obviously happy that we're winning things... but it doesn't feel real like the old days. Maybe I'm just getting old!".

A much better standard of team manager who has the ability to motivate the squad players.
And there was the rest of us thinking those things were the result of having a bottomless pit oil well of money.

Luton outperformed my expectations. I’d have had you down to finish bottom and the team acquitted itself much better than I expected. Hope you use the money wisely!!

Agree. Need to keep the manager (hopefully he wouldn't want to leave after his experiences at Watford). Build on what they have, come back stronger, others have Hopefully the players will know when they are well off.

Although I haven't seen any official news i suspect we we add the following clubs to NLN north next season:

Oxford City
Needham Market (!)
Leamington
Kidderminster
Marine
Radcliffe

We have lost

Tamworth & Boston promoted
Blyth, Banbury, Gloucester & Bishops Stortford relegated.

It will be a very southern Northern league next season!

Imagine a crowd singing "Dirty Northern *******s"... at a bunch of folk from Needham Market!

Elsewhere in football, Michael Duff has joined Huddersfield Town as Head Coach. Hopefully he'll bring a bit of stability, and break the habit of shooting ourselves in the foot at every opportunity.

Once they added Southern League Premier Central at step 3, effectively feeding NL North alongside the NPL, a more southerly-based NL North was inevitable.

I'm not sure why SLP-C is part of the Southern League rather than the Northern Premier League. NPL division 1 Midlands is one of its main feeders.

Several years of teams refusing promotion from the "home in time for tea"/glue leagues leagues hasn't helped either.

folk from Needham Market!
I had to check where that was!

The Premier Central division was created to stop the stretch of the Northern Premier League southwards, and give a better geographical spread.

That was about sharing the management of new divisions among existing leagues, rather than putting too much burden on any one league.

While Oxford is marginally to the south of any of the the relegated teams, Needham Market is further north than Banbury, Gloucester and Stortford, so overall this represents a slight shift northwards.

it doesn't FEEL it! Needham, like Stortford, will be a PITA to get to from proper northn clubs.

Manchester City have beaten Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 to move ahead of Arsenal ahead of the final round of matches on Sunday. In a rather strange atmosphere Erling Haaland scored twice with the second a penalty. Ederson went off after a challenge from Romero. His replacement Ortega saved Tottenham’s best chance from Son late on.

Can't see West Ham doing Arsenal any favors on Sunday.

Hat tip to Villa for making the Champions League off the back of tonight's result. Fair play to them.

Fifa to explore impact of moving domestic matches abroad

Bonkers!
I trust the FA will see sense and say 'no'. There is the world of difference between some summer round-robin competition before the season starts between teams from different countries and an important end of-season six-pointer. Those are for the fans who turned up sleet not withstanding, who did the 200 mile round trip on New Year's Day, who bought their season ticket in good faith. If it goes ahead, we'll have the Manchester derby in Abu Dhabi, a Newcastle home game in Riyadh, and Chelsea playing Arsenal, home and away in Hartford and Jefferson City (or in some quarter-filled 'Football' stadium with a performance by Post Malone at half time). They are bleating about the intensity of the fixture list, travelling half way round the world for a league game won't help. Won't affect me - I don't think they'll reach down to the National League 'step' system!
