    Figuring out TfL Bus Timetables

It's not you, it's TfL. The problem is the journey times on the TfL site do not relate to the individual journey, but are standardised for the whole day. There is no warning of this to the intending passenger. Thus the 482 is stated to take 27 minutes for your sample journey at 3:52 am and also...

No Horsham-Peterborough service Saturday 2nd March

No London Bridge-Epsom or Victoria-London Bridge services running. Means spare 377s I suggest.

    London Buses Discussion

That November date is for another batch of 28 buses for the Fastrack routes in the Dartford area to operate from Bexleyheath (BX) garage.

    Freedom pass plus senior railcard

Sorry, no. Where is that menu please? If I click on 'Advanced' on the Journey Planner page I get only this - nothing about other operators, etc. The exact same options come up if I click on 'More options' or 'No cross-London fares'. Is it the browser? I am using Firefox. 1699728039 Answering...

    Freedom pass plus senior railcard

Sorry, but I cannot find any option get into 'Advanced settings' on any of the pages of https://tickets.railforums.co.uk/. The nearest thing is an option to not have cross-London tickets, not the same thing.

    Heathrow Southern Link

You seriously imagine that the recent expansion will be the end of it? The investment in all the cameras will be wasted if they are just there to check on compliance with 2023 emissions standards. The requirements to drive into London will be constantly raised, along with the fee increasing...

A walk from Kirton Lindsey to Brigg (to cop two rare stations !)

Can I suggest catching a bus instead? Check bustimes site for the Hornsbys service no 94, Kirton Lindsey-Hisbaldstow-Brigg. There's a convenient service at 1204 from Kirton Lindsey arrive 1231 Brigg, or Brigg 1142 arrive Kirton Lindsey at 1203. Fill in time at either end with an out-and-back...

    London Buses Discussion

It was not uncommon for the X26 to use the deviation via Plough Lane, Wallington, to leave/rejoin the A232 at Beddington when there was traffic congestion around the Purley Way shops at Waddon, so SL7 will surely do the same. Strange that this has been mapped as the normal route though...

Trivia: Slowest and fastest services on UK rail network

25 mph? Luxury! Wallington to London Victoria 13.42 miles in 42 minutes = 19.17 mph. The down service is slightly faster at 20.13 mph. Not a one-off working, this is the all-day half-hourly service. Certainly could not be driven in that time though.

    E Tickets

Bromley South has lifts as well as the stairs. Arriving from the Denmark Hill direction, be at the very back of the train to be nearest these.

England and Wales interurban bus map

It's very good - I have been longing for something like to this to be available. The Croydon - Redhill route is 405, not 465. The 465 is Kingston - Dorking (not shown on map). Bromley - Westerham, shown as 405, is actually the 246. One thing this does illustrate is how many 'trunk' links...

Using a different ticket to open gates

I frequently use my Freedom Pass to get through barriers in London when holding an e-ticket to somewhere outside London, due to the failure rate with scans on e-tickets. Neither on-train inspections nor later scans at journey's end have ever thrown up any repercussions.

    BR era customer baggage trollies

Saw a couple at Derby only yesterday, labelled 'Property of Derby Station'. Coin required to release one.

Spa Valley closure and Eridge/Groombridge (and any others) - did BR think to relocate rural junction stations nearer town?

Not far away, the closure of Eridge-Hailsham-Polegate eventually resulted in the resiting of the former junction station at Polegate (back to pretty much where it had been before the branch opened).

How many turntables are there on the UK rail network?

1640354488 Hither Green turntable has gone to Robertsbridge for the Rother Valley Railway.

Epsom (LBSCR), closed after the 1923 grouping, services extended to the LSWR station the other side of the junction

Bus Routes Lost/ Changed Due To Light Rail

The destruction of the exisiting through service on the 54 was a serious diminution in quality of provision to anyone disabled or with a pram or with anything heavy - the bus terminated one side of the station, the tram on the other, requiring climbing a footbridge over the track to interchange...
