" I am delighted to report that as a result of a donation received on Sunday, the £1 million Pete Waterman Emergency Appeal (assisted by Steam Railway magazine) has reached its target.

I cannot begin to say enough thank yous.

Full line service should be back in October and then watch us fly!"

Good news from the Glous Waricks railway, so along with the reccent anouncements of: The expected completion of Chicken Curve this week, The new Platform 2 to be rebuilt at Cheltenham Race Course, The new Carriage & Wagon Workshop / Paintshop to be built at Winchcombe, The new Diesel Depot at Toddington, It's onwards and upwards to join the excellent progress at Broadway. :D

Does this mean that they will be able to run through services on the whole line again, instead of in two sections? Are they still looking at going further towards Stratford on Avon too ?

It will mean come late October (probably November) they will be able to run the full line + abit more, as the line will be reopening from Toddington through to Cheltenham Race course again, with the extention of the Laverton Loop. As for looking at extending up to Stratford, Broadway is first - and even then just to get up to there the cost has been estimated at over a million, then Honeybourne with Stratford a possibility somewhere in the future.

Hopefully 2013 will see the return to service of 35006 P&O after a "rest" of nearly fifty years. The Merchant Navy class loco is nearing completion at Toddington.

That's wonderful news & I am delighted for the volunteers & everyone connected with the GWR. They have suffered terrible misfortune but despite everything they have kept plugging away, and now they have finally reached the light at the end of the tunnel. (Pun intended!)

Bit of an update for you all. Chicken Curve is nearly nearly complete, there's just a short section of track to be slewed outside Winchcombe, but other than that it's ballasted and awaiting Tamping & S&T works - (judged from the pictures). But, onwards and upwards as they say, only a month to go till the full line reopens! :D

I'm amazed at the work that has been done on this railway, not only the reconnecting of the line to be as one again but also the extension to Broadway. It will be truly magnificent when it's complete. Well done guys.
