I was so happy when Ramsey signed for us instead of United, but then that nasty business with Shawcross put paid to Ramsey's career. He has been a absolute shadow of his former self and I think that a move away from the club might reignite his career again. Echos of Eduardo in that last part.

I see that Theo Walcott is using his contract renewal "long-drawn-out" battle of wits to try to force the hand of Arsene Wenger to play him as an outright striker than that of a winger.

Champions League draw for the "last 16" next 2-legged ties that feature British clubs....

Celtic v Juventus

Arsenal v Bayern Munich

Manchester United v Real Madrid

Are Arsenal about to throw away another game from being 0-4 up it is now 2-4 shades of Newcastle all over again.

Ok so Walcott has now made it 2-5. can a breathe a sigh of releif?

Sadly we didn't turn up that game  but fair play to Carzola, Wilshere & Walcott, all played brilliant. Even with the fact Reading were so poor they still played well.

God I wish Oldham game was one of six matches that got call off due to Rain today as they lost 4-1 to Yeovil and had player sent off in second half too :( and only 95 Latics fans made the trip to Yeovil too, bet they wish they went and did some Christmas shopping know.

VERY harsh on us today. Barry blatantly climbing on Shorey but ref obviously won't give it against City at their ground. Proud of the lads today, great defence today and deserved a point. Again refs are costing us points this season!

Just seen Carlton Cole's red card. What an utterly ridiculous decison.
Carlton gets penalised because he's big and awkward, he's such a big bloke he could (and maybe should) be bullying defenders left, right and centre, much like Shearer used to, but I dread to think how many more free kicks he'd give away if he did.

as was Darren Gibson's the ref set himself a dangerous precedent sending off Cole, and in the name of consistency had to send Gibson off as well.

it looked to me like Barry had momentum and the defender simply tried to obstruct him. good goal to me.

Scholes got booked

*faints*

Not that rare an occurance .... He's only 1 yellow card shy of being the 3rd member of the "100 Premier League yellow cards club"

Oh, I wonder if SS4 is cowering behind a settee somewhere after looking at the score line (now 6-0) ....

Hopefully this will sent a message to Lerner that we need to invest

An interesting statistic from the bbc live feed
Fernando Torres without Rafael Benitez is like Gary Barlow without the rest of Take That.

That was Torres' 59th goal in 84 Premier League matches under Benitez. He has scored 20 goals for five other managers in 81 Premier League matches.

Bringing in Benitez is starting to look a great move from Roman Abramovich.

Chelsea fans still moaning on Twitter, because they missed 3-4 easy goals. I would like to see these tweeters (or is it Twits) score these goals!

And McTaggart blew a gasket on the touchline as the Salford Scum failed to win. Pity.

The only professional club to play in Salford as has been repeated ad nauseum on this football thread to inform football correspondents on this thread who seem unaware of this fact is Salford City Reds RLFC. How many times does this need to be repeated before everyone is aware of this situation.

It is rather cruel of you to remind everyone of the last match played by the Salford City Reds RLFC as it was a very high-scoring loss to the Wakefield Wildcats by 34-42. They are in serious financial straits at the present time with the withdrawl of certain sponsorship monies and their new ground-sharing with Sale Sharks RUFC has also been "the kiss of death" for that team, since they moved from Edgeley Park, which they shared with Stockport County FC.

Why do you not open a Rugby League thread, if you wish to discuss matters in that sport ?

To back up Pauls post.

Salford to Old Trafford 3.8 miles
Manchester City Centre to Old Trafford 3.1 miles.

... And Grimsby Town's Blundell Park is less than a mile from Cleethorpes but 1.5 miles from Grimsby. What's your point?
