id hope they would let you know before training starts. Do you have a preference out of the two?

Don't worry to much, they ask you what line your comfortable to read, the bottom line was ridiculously small so I went for the one above but you can choose

I'm not sure which one I'd prefer, people have different opinions on them both so it's hard to decide what one would be better for me. Do you know where you'll be?

Ah that's good though, ilfords apparently better for learning more things but it's more hard work. When I applied it was for ilford, but he told me I could get either as both have come up since august when I applied, but I honestly wouldn't mind either, can get to both

I also had some good news, iam in at colchester pending the medical, which I am now anxious about, I asked about start date and was told it would be the 7th of March. Just can't wait to get started

I'd probably prefer gidea park just because I have mates there, don't know anyone at ilford so I'm really only getting one opinion. What's ilford like?

Ilford is quite busy what with all the maintenance that goes on and the large Bombardier site and subsequent diesel shunting, and generally theres always a lot more going on then at GPK. Thats either a good thing or a bad thing depending on what you want out of it all. Some days I wish I'd gone to Gidea just for a break you know, and a bit of a rest, we can be quite run ragged at times in Ilford. The main deal breaker for me to stay at ICS is that theres always other people about. We have a good gang of people, both Depot Drivers, Mainline Drivers and Yard Controllers and I don't think I'd like being at Gidea on my own, even if it is far less busy.

I got my medical date and have confirmed. Haven't got any reply yet and no idea of a start date. So i'm assuming it could be 7th March like other people..

Seems a bit strange to start on a Friday maybe they have there months mixed up, 7th April would seem right as that's a Monday, hopefully that's my start date

I thought it seemed strange then thought maybe it's a just a company induction type day.. then SEE YOU MONDAY TO START PROPER!

It does start on a Friday to go through your assessment results. Then company induction for one week then into mod 1 which is a basic overview of the operational side of things.

Ah ok, cheers for clearing that up, just seemed a bit odd to me, at least I can now warn my manager that my last day will be on a Thursday and not a Friday

Kevin has his medical on Friday, and a possible start date of 28 feb! Which is less than one months notice at his current job- he had to ask specifically. So if anyone else has to give one month notice somewhere I suggest you email HR to let them know you need to know asap.

It's not for certain but he was cold it could be. Thankfully his current jobs have been really understanding!

Odd! I've replied to emails and asked for a potential start date but haven't got any replies. I only have to give one weeks notice (Might be two but the contract says 1 so what can you do ).


So what's all this talk of March 7th? Is that a different course? Seems a bit strange!

Its for depot driver - he did originally want Clacton so maybe they are training for Clacton from 28 feb, then colchester from 7th March....but seems strangely close together!!

I dont know what to say.... i think HR are a bit confused
