Topassredsafe or is it topassredsafely?

Either way I can't remember all the reasons that go along with the letters but it was something like that ^^
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Just to add that I found/find it easier to picture a scenario personally.

Eg picture yourself stood at a station with a red ahead.

Stick a level crossing in the picture and then build the scenario, the signal you can see appears to be defective, the level crossing is defective, there's a set of points ahead you need to shunt through, etc etc

Once you've got the scenario built it stays in quite well or it does for me anyway. Good luck

We used Dealers See Speed - struggling to remember what they all stood for now though, I'll give it a shot but stand to be corrected;

D - Defective Signal
E - Electric Train (Cant remember the reasons behind electric trains as we don't have them)
A - Assist a failed train
L - Level crossing faulty
E - Examine line
R - Restricted acceptance (absolute block)
S - Shunting

S- Start ahead of signal
E- Engineering Possesion
E- Engineering Worksite

S- Single line
P- Pilotman working
E- Evacuate passengers (failed train)
E- Emergency permissive working
D- Divided train

Few as good -

F - Failed train - can't continue forward
E - Enginerring train
W- Wrong Routed - set back

A - Assist failed train from the front
S - Single line working

G - Ground Frame - shunting movement
O - Overrun - TRain to set back after overrinng a station
O - Obstruction - Can't continue forward because of obtsruction on line
D - Divuded Train - Front of portion set back to rear portion

21 - Grinding train set back t extinguish lineside fire (I think?)

Once again I stand to be corrected on any - and I'm not taking credit for these neither.

This is certainly not the best way to learn the reasons, it isn't any good giving reasons unless you know why. I have taken new drivers for rules and asked for a scenario for when you may need to pass a signal at danger and not just the list!

The mnemonic and corresponding list are just reminders, to trigger recall of the actual knowledge.

So what would you suggest is the best way to learn the reasons?

Using the above ways certainly helped me pass my exams, of course I learnt the reasons behind the list, but I found these helpful to remember the more obscure reasons why I'd pass a signal at danger or undertake a wrong direction movement.

But what works best for one person, won't be the best for another person.

The best way to learn them depends on who is learning them. I can't learn by remembering acronyms as I find them of no use to me. I learnt the reasons for passing signals, propelling and wrong direction by writing them down as a list then checkout it against the Rule book.
