As a week has passed with no confirmation, I'm going to keep the quiz moving with the following [and will happily withdraw it if the above answer is incorrect]:

A possible production from a Reduced Chekhov Company?

Cherry Tree?

Open floor again if this is confirmed.

Here is a new one.

You shouldn't lie, neither should cars.

Probably a blind spot but I really can't see how your clue indicates Carlisle. Could you explain it?

You shouldn't lie, neither should cars.

It gives the car bit of Carlisle and the Lie bit.

That seems to be almost an anagram (CARS + LIE) but missing the second L and with no anagram indicator. I do not think it is a sound clue. If I were constructing an anagram clue it would be something like "cellar is reorganized". that is containing all of the letters to be included and giving an instruction on how to arrive at the answer.

I try to hold to the principle that a clue need not mean what it says but it must say what it means.

Bit of a long-shot, but here goes:-

"Garden of Eden pigs" could be a nickname for Garden of Eden Pigmentation serum, supposed to prolong life.

The serum is rich in vitamin E.

So if this station was made of it, it would be eeee..r..ly.

Or Earley.

So just how many men have been made here, then?
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
OK - may be a bit too vague:-
Clue:- think of a short, alliterative proverb.

Clue:- think of a short, alliterative proverb.

It is most likely Manors, though the clue ought to include something along the lines of "so we've heard in the proverb" to indicate both the allusion and the homophone.

Open floor, if correct.

Sounds like a musical association between Billy Budd and Virginia Plain.
