DfT said:Latest light rail and tram statistics
The latest figures show:
- in the financial year ending 2015, light rail usage in England continued to rise with record numbers of passenger journeys (239.8 million) and vehicle miles (18.4 million) since comparable records began in 1983
- since the financial year ending 2005, the first full year when all current systems were in operation, light rail journeys have grown by 51%
- around 2.7% of all public transport journeys in Great Britain are made on light rail systems

The biggest increase from 13/14 to 14/15 appears to be on DLR (8.5% increase) with Manchester Metrolink seeing a 6.8% increase and Tyne and Wear seeing a 6.7% increase. Tramlink and NET have also seen increases with Midland Metro, Blackpool Tramway and Supertram seeing drops.
Am I right in thinking Metrolink is the only light rail network to have opened additional lines and stations?
