The instruction we were given at the assessment day was research the role of a train driver, not the depot or inner workings. I would imagine the more Important info would be why you are a good candidate to be employed, not info on a depot they obviously know everything about. Just my take on it.

I agree with what your saying and tbh most questions were asked about myself and how I would be suited to being a train driver however they did ask questions about the depot I applied for so if I were you I would be doing some research just incase

Cheers Josecc I will do some research into the depot. But ill probably stop short of turning up to speak to someone given the instructions not too. I'm sure there is plenty of info freely available by other sources.

I'm guessing they said it wud take a couple of weeks for you to hear the result of your interview. Good luck mate.

I didn't visit the depot either under the instruction of the ladies at the assessment day. They said they didn't know when I would find out the result. All they said was they were doing interviews this week and the following week.
Good luck

Is it game over now for applicants that haven't heard ??

I have given up!!

I got my application in early and thought it was pretty solid, especially having over 20 years experience in adhering to rules and regulations and gaining further education in a highly disciplined subject.

Suppose,it was not to be!!

But congratulations to all members who have been successful in their application and good luck.

Spartafan - I likewise have 27 years service to an organisation - tick every box they were looking for several times over in my opinion and not even a sniff :(

Same with me, quietly closing the door on this dream. Wasn't meant to be.

I re-read my application and found a single spelling mistake - basic errors! It may have had nothing to do with it, but on the other hand, when they are looking to recruit those with exceptional concentration, it's not a great start!

I am thinking likewise. I thought my application would of possibly merited making the next stage, but obviously not. That said, I applied for north and I am not aware of anyone on here who has heard anything back concerning north.

Likewise, not hopeful now but also not aware of any north applicants hearing yet. How many actual people would they be needing for that area in any case.....?

I applied for the North and did not hear anything. Not heard of anyone else being successful in the North.
I think this dream has also died for me :(

Surely if you've not heard of a single person being successful for that area and you yourself haven't been contacted then one would assume that area *may* not have been done yet. I'm not saying that's the case at all but if nobody has heard then you're in with as good a chance as you had at the start I would think. It's only once others have sat assessments then interviewed and going for 2nd stage assessments or medical that I'd be willing to accept it's probably not going to be my lucky chance.
It would be nice if Scotrail put out a facebook/twitter announcement once all successful candidates are contacted so that the remaining can move on and not be waiting on an email or phone call but I don't know if that will happen or not. They may even keep people on file and contact them when they are recruiting again and it's good practice to have filled out the form and then go back over it and amend it if you have better examples for your answers.
Try to stay positive, I know it's not easy but sadly this is how the recruitment process works for the railway due to high volume of applicants versus low number of positions. Once you're in it'll be well worth it though so for those who don't give up and persevere, good luck!

To all still waiting to hear news of their application, I made an enquiry today and received the following response from Recruitment Team:

'We are hoping to place information on the career website this week in order to provide an update to all candidates.'

So they're well aware there's lots of us waiting patiently for news now imminent.

I'm sure we've all tried to give this our best shot for the time-being: when there are countless high quality candidates many who might be well capable are bound to remain at the starting post - - til next time - - -

Some facts that answer a few people's questions on here.
I made spelling mistakes in my application
I got to assessment 1
I got to interview 1
I applied for an area that seems to be one of the ones they are dealing with first as a few on here are at the same stage as me for same area.
I am 48
I am female
I researched being a train driver
I didn't know to research my depot....I wish I had known this.
If I don't go to next stage, and I think this likely it's because I didn't know basic stuff about my depot.

Hope this helps folks.

I'm still keeping positive, I've not seen any mention of Tweedbank assessment centres on here (well hopefully not!) I've also spotted a couple of posts on their Facebook about no contact yet for the Tweedbank posts. Hopefully it's just because their new drivers started a couple of months back and they are filling other depots first. Fingers crossed , it's not over until they say so...and they've extended their time scale to the end of November.
