I've got my driver team leader assessment day on a day I've got a running turn with my existing TOC!
Swaps are required.

Again good luck to those who are sitting it tomorrow :)

Let start again

Hi Guys,

I had my assessment today and passed it!:D
It was Group Bourdon-The easiest part of the assessment!
TRP1-GLOP
TRP2-Dials and cables
Tea-Occ - low and high tones plus the directory
DFFT-tricky one and I would say the most difficult!

we are "rushed" to the next assessment day on 15th of january:

1.WAFV-Vigilance exercise
2.The ATAVT Perception test
3.The two hand CO-ordination test
4.The Situational Judgement Exercise
5.The Multi-Modal Interview /MMI/

The date and instructions for the next tests were given to us at the end of the day.
Nothing is mentioned here for the OTDPQ- outstanding train driver personality questionnaire or WCT-written communication test where you have to make a short story looking at a pictures of some event or situation.
As I understood the failed guys was told they are not up to the national standard!
Good luck to anyone and share your experience from tomorrow's assessment if you can or wish.

Thanks for the info I'm in tomorrow.

Think I'm quite prepared, not looking forward to GLOP at all.

So the day is over. I was lucky enough to pass, whoop whoop :). It was exactly as Drazky described: GBT, TRP1-GLOP, TRP2-Dials and cables, Tea-Occ - low and high tones plus the directory, DFFT to finish it off. Out of 12 people only 4 made it - proper carnage.. Next stage 18th Jan, fingers crossed. Waiting for the results was a proper killer, soo stressful..

Well done mate, the GLOP test is the one that I failed. Who was left? Good luck for the next tests.

Quick correction - I meant to say 18th Jan, my bad.
The letter says: WAFV, ATAVT, 2-hand coordination, Situational Judgement and MMI. No mention of any written communication tests or OTDPQ. Prob at later stage. So relieved now

I'm sorry you haven't made it Steve.. Only myself, Firat, Keiran and Fergus got through. Proper bloodshed

I got my day 1 assessment on 19/02/16. Now I know that the pass rates for day 1 are not great ranging to an average below 50% from what I read. But if they have an assessment day every day, still that is quite a few people going through to day 2 assessments. Does anyone know what the pass rate is for the computerised tests and MMI? Are we still looking at these low pass rates? Gotta say that the fact they had to re-advertise the position does not fill me with confidence. Then again at least I have made it this far. All of my friends did not even make the VSE and initial SJT. They failed at the first online questionnaire at stage 2. Guess I just wanna get this done one way or another lol. Just some thoughts! What is everyone else thinking?

Hi All,

Congrats Drazky & Sqrson and thanks for the useful info.

I was one of the 8 lucky guys who passed the first assessment on 7 January. Twelve people attended and four were sent home.

We were given letters inviting us for the next assessment day for the 18 and 19 January. I'm relieved I don't have to wait for ages until the next stage.

Good luck everyone!!!

Evening All !

I did my stage 2 test yesterday afternoon , so i am now awaiting to hear whether i've been successful or not.

I was a bit disappointed to find out they enforce the 40min rule. I live in West Drayton , which is just beyond the cut off point. Despite Crossrail going right in front of the OOC depot.

What materials does everyone use to prepare the for the tests ?

Good luck everyone on their future endeavours

Hi Speckled Parrot,

I have my assessment in early February.

I have been basically just going over RSSB pack, crossrail supplied and I bought an extra group bourdon test book which I spend about 30 minutes a day on.

With regard to the 40 minutes rule, I live approx 17 miles away (south bucks), 30-40 minutes drive on a normal run!

Any idea on how crossrail do their calculations on how this is determined?

Cheers.

Hello ladies and gents.
New to the site, recently just found out about it.
I've just sat my first assessment day on the 8/1/16 and I was one of the lucky 7 to get through out of 14, wasn't expecting the day to be as brutal as it was but it was a good experience. The next assessment day is on the 20th Jan so better start doing more revision

Well done and welcome to the forum. I really hope the next stage is slightly less intense hehe. Not much we can do to prepare for computer based tests (there are few helpful vids on YouTube) or SJE, so my main prep work will focus on MMI. Good luck to us all :)

Thank you very much, I've noticed how nice everyone seems to be here. Im definitely with you on that one, hopefully I'll be more relaxed this time round. Im just about to look at those vids, as for SJE we've already had to do these so shouldn't be much of an issue.

Have a look at the vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y11h-vaReg8 (Relevant info starts at around 3 min in).
I stopped it on the result sheets and find them quite interesting to analyze. Gives us some idea what they look for and in what way the result is being generated

Try drawing toy "Etch A Sketch". There are many apps available too. Some of them have the left control that moves the dot horizontally, and the right one moves it vertically. If you have a tablet or iPad you can cut out the shapes from the practise materials received, placed this 'stencil' on the top of the screen and try drawing line from start to finish using the app.

Hi guys!

Do you have any idea how many questions/situations we are going to discuss on our MMI?
My second assessment is on 15.01.16
I managed to take an week off and try to prepare my self as much as I can.
Any ideas how to practice 2 hand coordination?
Any other ideas and tips?
I will try to share and discuss everything I know or had an experience already!

Regards

Nick

Hi drazky good to see you got through! Can see your quiet an active member on this forum so you maybe the best person to ask,
In regards to the gbt tests are they like the practise material we were sent by crossrail? E.g finding different case letters in the rows or is it the dot patterns iv seen some rail companies do? I have been revising these and getting my times down but not sure how well I will do on the day

Also the fault finding test iv been running over quiet a bit as you mentioned this was pretty tricky, again is this very similar to the practise stuff we were sent? I find cross referencing fairly easy but it could be because I'm repeating the same test and sorta know the answers in my head

As for the memory tests I have practised but maybe they are something to get in closer to the test dates?

Sorry to pick your brains just want to be certain on the day and what to expect any input would be great even if I don't get through which is highly likely I would like to do fairly well and keep decent records on file Incase I try again

Regards
Jim
