I received same email today, I'm really confused though??!! I applied last year, completed everything, assessments etc and got to interview stage which took place 18th July where I was unsuccessful.

I waited six months to pass and luckily they re-advertised for Old Oak Common, so naturally re-applied.

I was of the understanding that whatever stage you've achieved is banked for five years?? I'm very confused indeed, I called them today, they said they would look at my case, I'm still waiting to hear back, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they have overlooked my application somehow??

Staying positive though, sorry to hear your news chaps, I wish you good luck!

Assessments are banked. Interviews are not. So you can reapply for another TOC or for the same TOC in 6 months.
Sorry to hear you guys/girls didn't make it through. Stay positive though and apply again while you have the assessment passed or that will expire too.

Thanks HeelBurton!

Just had a phone call, that's the end for me with crossrail!! Very disappointed in their selection process! Seems very unjustified and to not give you any feedback as to why you failed a questionnaire, when you've already passed it and gave same answers as before?? Ho hum, not giving up, wasn't meant to be!

What is banked are the trainee driver assessment, the online stages you do now are simply an additional exercise done for Crossrail. To be fair, I can completely understand them requesting to complete this questionnaire again, but to fob people off by saying the questionnaire was the reason the application can't be processed is disingenuous I think. I really can't think of what else I could have done for that questionnaire.

The only reason I can think of is my location might be a little too far out for their liking. Or some other reason. But it's not based on the questionnaire results as far as I'm concerned. Like I said before, I'm not bothered, but it would've made sense to disqualify us from the very initial application rather than let us take this bloody questionnaire in the first place!

Chin up lads, there's plenty of opportunities out there. Like you, I got through to interviews last year, hence why I'm puzzled, but forget it... I'm cool.

It's very unprofessional not to give you feedback. That's highly frustrating. I can only think that if everyone is giving the same textbook answer then they might have caught on somehow but then if it's correct then you can't be penalised for that.

Feedback is actually given in the very same e-mail. They state what could be done better for next time on that questionnaire. It's unreasonable to expect them to give specific reasons as to why you failed, but they do give some sort of advice/suggestions.

But I've said this before and I'll say it again, I'm highly skeptical these rejections were solely based on questionnaire results. That's just me personally. Move on guys, and best of luck to all those still in the running!

I call bullcrap as well. I answered it flawlessly emphasising safety first and fotemost and got a rejection. Got another recent attempt, tried something a little different and same result. I can accept not progressing my application, fair enough, but it isn't on the basis of the questionnaire. It can't be, I simply refuse to accept that. My location I can understand, but anything else I'm not accepting.

Oh well, I'm not bitter, there's plenty of opportunities to be had on the railways, I'll keep trying.

No you don't sound bitter at all

Excellent news Peps123, was a very challenging day. Down to the final hurdle, I've got my interview on the 1st February so I'll be able to shed a bit of light on it for those who are having there's after.
How many people went through to the interview stage?

There were five in the beginging, 3 of us passed everything and the other 2 were doing there MMI when I left so possibly all 5 passed

I got exactly the same rejection email. I don't understand. I have worked in customr service for 6 years - I got my answers checked by my father in law who is currently a train driver and has been for a while.

I cant accept that my rejection was due to my answers? Maybe something to do with the fact im female or I live 10 minutes outside their requested radius?

Really gutted...

Anyone know if anywhere else is taking on trainees?

South West Trains are always recruiting from the amount of people I see coming in through the system and the amount of people I'm currently training.

The fact you are female would normally work in your favour to be honest, in a male strong industry.

Did you check online or ring recruitment? Speaking to my trainee now, he recommends you contact recruitment and ask for an application form, get your name in the pile.

I'm entirely new to this - so go on south west trains and ring/email the recruitment contact and ask for an application form?

Just called south west trains - they haven't been recruiting for over 2 years now apparently and have too many people on the waiting list so have told me to keep an eye on email alerts only...

There's usually 6 or 7 drivers courses a year minimum so I'm not sure the first part is entirely true, however, if you've heard it from the horses mouth, not much that can be done, they do know best obviously. Keep an eye out I guess.

Lorol.. usually put up a trainee vacancies quit frequently, more than other toc ive seen. (there isnt one up now.. but keep an eye on it)

& i think its only like recent application that have been getting rejection. They probably have up-ed their game...im sure they have a high demand of applicants a day and most likely their requirements are more strict now since.. l applied. (November 2015... and im only just about to have my 1st interview on February) l live exactly 41 mins away...by train and dats not counting.. getting to my local train station it self.... and 27mins by car. & and both times are not even during rush hour.
& im also female too..... like @heelburton said.. it most probly an advantage cos they are looking for female drivers as there are not alot of them.

its January.. wait the 6months... and apply again in June... training doesnt start until late November. & GOOOOODLUCK!!! dont give up

Anybody got any examples of the questions asked in the mmi???

LOL, i dont think so!
but the most common one im guessing they probz gonna ask.. is what you know about the company.. n they most probly want detailed answer. (what ive seen from other forums of mtr)

hope my pass my first assessment to have my mmi n dm.

There is a book online you can buy with MMI interview questions and how to answer them... there is actually loads especially on ebay. MOST of them just under £10.

goodluck!!!

Hi everyone, please forgive my question! But I am attending the assessment centre on the 3rd Feb and just making sure I have prepared for the correct tests.
When I received my invitation email it stated it was recommended I practice the following as I will be sitting them that day;

· The Trainability for Rules and Procedures Test Part 1 and 2
· The Group Bourdon Concentration Test
· The Driver Fault Finding Test (DFFT)
· The Test of Everyday Attention for Occupational Assessment (TEA-Occ)

I know the practice pack contain other materials so I just wanted to make sure I'm understanding the email properly. I see it as I should focus my practice in those tests as that's what I'll be sitting. It's the first assessment centre.

Again sorry for my almost stupid question but it's my first time in this process.

Cheers

Hi guys, i attended this mornings 1st assesment day, around 12 of us started but 10 left straight after the initial cluster of GBT + TRP1+TRP2, so only just 1.5 hrs into this process i was already sheettin myself. Another guy and i managed to hang on till the end and now ive got round 2 on 4th Feb. Best of luck for anyone whos attending anything.

By the way i met some trainee train driver who already started the training, they all said the very last Meet the manager is just a chat, just want to get to know you more. They also mentioned to study MTR thoroughly. I guess the more we know about MTR the better. All in all, MMI is likely to be the hardest of em all
