We import far more than we export already. We recently experienced the greatest recession since the 1930s. The EU did nothing to solve that. Our economy is overly reliant on financial services (much to the consternation of the EU and the bank levy intended to hit London harder than other markets).

Time to readjust!

Have some faith in this country and its ability to determine its own destiny, free from interference. We have managed that for millennia. The EU has been around for a few decades and is rapidly imploding.

The Eurosceptic countries have been waiting for this result and the end of the EU superstate is in sight.
Watching oily Keith Vaz cry has made my day.
Mandelson saying they had a great campaign !

Apart from the likes of Murdoch.

Give it some years and the UK will be back on its feet, a bit-part player on the outside having to still deal with Europe but with no control over it.

In the meantime its going to be rough, some businesses will relocate, Tim Martin will be happy that Uncle Boris has got rid of some employee rights (such as that pesky minimum wage).

Jeremy Corbyn just tackled this one, because he said that it's the government's fault that Leave won in the north. I agree with him.

Personally, I thought that Jeremy Corbyn's views about the need to correct the problems of the common market resonated most with me from the remain side.

Yep!

Watching the BBC and guardian crawling up their own a**es and wheeling out the usual suspects for damage mitigation is hilarious.

Democracy suddenly doesn't seem such a good idea now that the music stopped.

I am so glad that you decided to leave. No UK that will blackmail the rest of the EU.

Is it democracy when a few extra people get to decide for everyone. Is a few % really a majority?, esp. As a whole part of the UK voted to remain?

How about 50% of the total eligible voters going for change in order to enact changes?

Just like what the government wanted to do with the unions?

A bit of consistency wouldn't hurt.
It would have been a brilliant idea.

The notion of making a choice on a matter as important as this without setting any sort of threshhold has always seemed daft to me. Whichever way it had gone, a decision by just a few percentage points and with a large number of abstainers doesn't carry that much conviction.

How can a timetable now be produced that would allow Scotland to decide if it wants to be independent and stay in the EU before it is swept out of it along with the rest of the so-called United Kingdom and so would need to re-apply from scratch?

And what will now happen in the Six Counties / Northern Ireland which also voted to stay in?

We might be about to see Cameron resign, as if things couldn't get insane enough

I can't stand Murdoch either.

I'd rather be a 2 bit player (although we won't be) than part of a failed project to create an undemocratic superstate no one wants, which is falling apart at the seams.

I'd rather the government i elected determined my employment rights, rather than someone else. What happens when I no longer agree with what that "someone else" decrees?

So, he will continue in his role (and with the same cabinet) for 3 months, and then they'll plan to have a new leader in place by the conservative party conference. Also says that he won't trigger article 50 until new leader is in place

Looks like David Cameron will be replaced by the conservative party conference I.e. By October.

Live on BBC, he said that "there should be a new Prime Minister in place by the time of the Conservative Party Conference..." but stopped short of an immediate resignation.

Cameron waffling on about gay marriage and multiculturalism for some reason before he had a little cry and departed stage left.

Meanwhile in other news, the markets have taken a dive but, on the plus side, it's all factored in now.

I too am glad we decided to leave.

If we are where we are as a result of blackmailing the rest of the EU it clearly did not work too well for us.

Let us hope we can work in harmony with our neighbours so that we all gain from the change.

Lost somewhere within Bank-Monument tube station,

Written like someone who can't stand the fact Britain is a modern, liberal country. Nice person you are.

All in all, surely it's Boris's campaign to lose now. Osborne's leadership hopes are finished, May backed Remain so the likelihood of her becoming leader has decreased drastically, and no-one likes Gove. 'tis gonna be interesting for sure.

Oh good, so the Prime Minister is leaving, and we're leaving an undemocratic system where the executive is chosen by the legislative.

I'm looking forward to my chance to vote for the new prime minister before September. When will the ballot papers be sent out?

May backed remain but not too loudly. Sadly I see her staying in.

I see Graham Brady being promoted to government, possibly Education, which will be an interesting turnout - he's a big fan of grammar schools.

Anybody is entitled to have a view about such things, just because you have a different view is irrelevant. Nice person you are
