It's gotten so bad. Last night stuck at Clapham with no announcements about the next service for 30 mins! Can you belive that!

Toay I had to politely ask all the lemmings going to London to move to the side as i rushed for my Sailsbury train, as there was a queuing system in place. I was politely telling them my train was every hour.

I have got delay compensation twice every day since this debacle started!

The 1632 from Victoria to Tonbridge yesterday left at 1641, despite being fully crewed. The (female) conductor sounded almost in tears before we left as she told us that the signaller had for some reason given priority to a GX departure (announced with more than a hint of annoyance!), also saying that she thought the whole current situation was very unfair on us passengers.

We lost a great deal more time en route, especially outside Redhill, where we arrived nealy 30 late. First class had been, as usual, invaded by the belligerent masses, and the usual chaos and mis-information ensued at Redhill, with the 1741 Gatwick and the 1743 Reading workings being mixed up by the station staff in their garbled and distorted announcements, to the extent that many passengers knew which was which by the fact that the Reading train had emptied out during its reversal - but apparently the staff couldn't even work that out! Redhill is more like a sitcom than a real station for much of the time!

To be fair to GTR, Clapham Junction is managed by SWT.
But manual announcements are made by Southern staff.

I noticed yesterday that services were being cancelled at Sutton for electrical power supply issue between Luton and St Pancras; more trains than usual requiring repairs and staff shortages, within the space of an hour.

I have told SWT that they should split the queue for platforms 9/10 as it's unfair that both passengers are lumped in the same queue.

Good luck with that one. Some years ago when there was works on platform 1 and 2 at Clapham Junction, there was there was issues affecting trying to board the once hourly train to Harrow.

I emailed TfL, Southern and South West Trains. I can't remember who replied to my complaint but it wasn't all of them from memory and once replied after the disruption was over. How convenient. Of course they may have had a back log of other customers to respond to so it may have been coincidental.

Who enters in this information in and what train could possibly be slower than one that runs between two stations with no other stations in between? I guess one could run at a lower mph. Not sure that anything has replaced it or at least not from what I can see.

To be fair National Rail Enquiries App lists it as a broken down train. If only we could run a railway without trains, then we'd save lots of money as there would be nothing to fail and fix! Lol.

Maybe the slower train was used on the inbound trip and arrived after it should have left on that trip?

You do know that trains do more than one trip a day don't you!

There was a rumour the other day that the short formation trains are caused by a lack of fitters in the depots, dont know if its true or not.

I do. I'm just trying to find anything to critise GTR. Not the staff driving or crewing the trains mind you.

Are they trying to do away with the fitters as well? If their is a shortage of fitters they might not wish to advertise that as it might make GTR look bad. A lack of fitters cam the blamed on the drivers or guards.

I wanted to use SN for a journey from Leighton Buzzard to Wembley tomorrow, via LM/LO it will take a lot longer. Are the services to Milton Keynes still being curtailed?

Isn't that rather silly, I thought we at least attempted to have objective discussion on rail issues here rather than merely showing blind support for one side or the other :D

OK. I admit. I'm clutching at straws at the time but GTR are not exactly great in their publicity surrounding the issues.

I agree, must be very frustrating by now for people relying on them for their daily commute etc

Is there any plans of strike action taking place between the 1st and 21st August?

As I've got some time off work to do an ALRR, any strike action that is planned may knacker up my jaunt to Eastbourne.

Too early to say. The union only has to give 7 days' notice. They will not give more notice than that in order to make it as difficult as possible for GTR to plan around it.

I don't think there will be any more RMT strikes , seems management are adopting a more conciliatory attitude now.

Southern Trains are due to announce an amended timetable in the coming week to deal with the disruption to its services.

I fear Coastway local services will be cut, to ensure trains to and from London run with greater reliability.

Ticket acceptance on Brighton & Hove Buses continues to be unreliable. My train from Seaford was cancelled one day last week, so I tried to board a route 12 bus towards Brighton. This has been officially permitted for over a month, but the driver refused carriage, reading me a message from his cab display which implied the arrangement for ticket acceptance had been withdrawn.

I walked home, and - later in the week - walked home from Newhaven after three consecutive Seaford branch trains were cancelled. Being forced to walk everywhere keeps my weight low and my Delay Repay claims high, though.

According to a BBC South East news report on Saturday, the amended timetable will start on July 11.

Just a reminder that this thread is only to discuss information for passengers, and not to discuss the dispute itself.

Mick Cash from RMT has said according to the press: -

"The solution of this failing, basket-case franchise is not axing more trains and attacking those trying to hold it together at the sharp end - it is the removal of Govia at the earliest possible point.

Directly Operated Railways, who sorted out the mess on the East Coast, are lined up and ready to go and they should be given the green light to take over and start running these routes under public control, in the public interest."

I thought Directly Operated Railways or at least the operational parts had been wound up last year. Is that correct and thus is Mick Cash just spouting nonsense for publicity or is he correct and DOR is there to run the services if GOVIA are stripped of Management Contract?

Any buses for the Tonbridge line, or are they to be completely abandoned, I wonder?
I was just thinking the same thing. Knowing Southern it's possible they might go either way.

Do any local buses run between Tonbridge and Redhill. How much longer term would it take? Double the time?

Searching for Redhill to tonbridge on travelinesoutheast (for a departure at 09:45 tomorrow) and not selecting Trains on the method of transport brings up a journey involving 3 changes of bus - total journey time about 2 hours 7 minutes (direct train takes 42 min) - some journeys are 3 hours.
Most journeys involve changing buses in Sevenoaks so may be quicker to use the train Sevenoaks-Tonbridge.
