That is interesting photo. Is that a Network Rail worker in your photo? Its so rare to see anyone else using Doleham!

On the platform is a NR lookout man for the track maintenance/p-way gang undertaking work in the distance- towards Winchelsea/Rye.
Because of the sparse train service I could not easily travel there by rail. So when I was driving around the area I decided to try to find the station but had difficulty in trying to locate it amongst the narrow country lanes. It was made easier finding the NR van parked in the layby by the entrance to the platform.

Yes Doleham is very remote. Although now that Three Oaks and Winchelsea have a more frequent service it is easier to get to Doleham. Its only a 15 minute walk from Three Oaks or a 1 hour walk from Winchelsea.

I recon it's a 185, so FTPE, but I know nothing about the area

Looking at the lamp post I'd say Northern, the train a 150, mid-Cheshire somewhere I think, it doesn't look like the stations at the Altrincham end (but it is a long time since I have been along that route). I'm going for Greenbank.

No and no but your reasoning is impeccable. Only a matter of time now....
