If Northern did repaint 150222, why did they do so in de-branded Serco/Abellio Northern livery? Seems a bit daft to me.

I wondered that myself, especially considering when the Class 321/9s were refurbished they were painted dark blue.

Currently on board 150220, the external destination display reading Leeds, though the service is Leeds to Victoria via Dewsbury. Internal PIS screens read "On Maintenance".

Yesterday 150 222 was showning Manchester Vic despite heading for Leeds. But sloppy crew work.

The management don't seem to want people to identify the new brand with the old look, so refurbished trains get the new livery, everything else is left as it is.

This is, however, somewhat daft considering that they happily splashed "We are Northern" on a few old livery units.

That doesn't make sense if the 150s aren't going anywhere. Why did it even get repainted if it's not being refurbed yet?

Must admit I am underwhelmed by the speed of this refurbishment program .... 150275 and 155346 have both been away for over 6 months. Appreciate they are 1st of class, but these are 2 car units for heavens sake.

It may be true about the 155 being 1st in class but it is not true about the 150/2 as Porterbrook have done 2020 mods on its 150/2's for GWR, same train, same lease company.

More likely to be the system had knackered up as apose to crew not being bothered about changing it. The new 'train
Fx' display system as its called fitted on 150 222 is the same system as on 158752 and it although it is a good system it does have some teething problems at the moment, particularly with the system freezing.

Seen Friday night on 21.33 Lancaster to Morecambe 142049 (Merseytravel style panel) displaying "Morcambe" front and back. No teething troubles there. Makes a change from the more usual "Morecombe" I suppose.

Seems to have gone very quite on the redecoration front. Around 6 months in to the franchise and only one unit partially done. How many still to do?

Lots!

Even though they're not staying, the 144 I'm on now (019) could do with some tlc or it'll be in a right state by the time it goes off-lease!

Talking to someone today who seemed to be in the know they said that northern management where unhappy with the spec of the recently redecorated 158. There seemed to be some doubt as to the work specified and who by.
With little work below the solebar not a good omen me thinks for future reliability of the 20 plus year old 15x units.

I hope that includes the livery!

Also, I'm pretty sure there's a 142 going round with an entire two man seat missing.

There's loads of 142s with missing seats. If they are completely broken they just get removed as they can't get new seats which match the old ones.

158791 also has two tables randomly missing. 142s lacking seats is a recurring issue as I can remember 142018 having a bay of 4 with ridiculously huge legroom due to a pair of seats missing.

Unsure if this has anything to do with Northern, but 319427 reported at Brush - for fitting with Diesel engines. Whilst confirmed that the unit is at Brush, the second part is from that excellent font of gen, Facebook. April 1st or some substance to it?

Can't they just get them from the bus graveyards of South Yorkshire or am I being too logical?

This rumour about diesel powered 319s has surfaced several times before. The move to Brush could mean something more to it, or nothing.

319427 isn't one of the twelve due to go to Northern, but it's a rather interesting rumour to say the least!

If it has gone to Brush and not gone for fitting of diesel engines, what has it gone for?
Brush is not the normal place to send multiple units.
