I was in Clapham yard this morning, it hasn't moved, it's still covered in graffiti and there are 'no entry' stickers on the cab doors!

Its officially not Swt's train until they accept it after testing/ commissioning and fault free running, it will be up to Siemens to remove the graffiti. Stickers are to warn of unwanted visitors , as the cab doors locks also switch on the batteries.

If that's how Lambeth treats its new trains, we'll be happy to rehome them 'up north'
Clapham Junction aint in Lambeth, I'll have you know!

Whether it's Clapham Junction or Lambeth, surely they're both 'up north'!:)

Surely it wasn't Siemens' fault it was parked down the very end of the most remote road there though?

Lambeth is only 900m away and the local Police know plenty of them travel west into Wandsworth to commit crimes they "just don't have enough evidence or the current abode of certain individuals";)

It could be they will use an ASDO system that can including auto door opening like the 700s do at certain stations, but full ATO (i.e. train driving), cannot be used on the SW network, as surely there is no trackside infrastructure for ATO, neither is it intended.

At the moment.

Don't forget Sparkrail 1 is proposed to be ATO compliant (a dedicated line directly from Waterloo to my back garden). ;)

What are all the wagons associated with the 707 arrival at Clapham for?

As discussed already, these are used to provide sufficient braking force, as the brakes on the 707s aren't yet commissioned.

Are these 707s being commissioned in Clapham / Wimbledon or Northam Depots?

Come to think of it, I wonder when Northam will see it's first 707.

Commissioning will take place at Clapham, and Northam won't see any 707s as maintenance will be carried out at Wimbledon Park.

IMO it would've looked better if the orange and blue bits got slightly involved on the bit that's currently all yellow, the lights would even seem to suit that

Surrey commuters are complaining already: http://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/surrey-news/south-west-trains-passengers-brand-12354388#rlabs=2%20rt$sitewide%20p$2

Apparently they're "cattle trucks," with "nowhere to sit or stand." I could understand no where to seat, but there's clearly a lot of room to stand, as the video the article includes clearly shows

The seating per train is hardly any different to the 455s, it's just spread out amongst the extra coach. :D

2 x 5 car 707 = 542 seats, 640 standing, with wide gangways, access throughout train.
2 x 4 car 455 + 1 x 456 = 591 seats, 569 standing, narrow or no gangways, access along train pretty useless.

Figures from the Southwestern franchise ITT, table 5.3.

But as the comments below the article correctly point out, the trains won't actually serve the area the paper is targeted at...
