You had the rub of the green at our spot the other week... admittedly that's the only time I've seen you though! It would take a miracle for you to miss out on automatic now, just as it'll take us a miracle to make It!

So your 'several games' is admittedly just the one game? Brilliant insightful football analysis by just making something up and putting it out as fact.

Well after our result against Leeds and the Wed result against Newcastle that's pretty much put paid to our playoff ambitions for this season, it'll take a minor miracle now for us to get into the top 6.

That's a shame, I was looking forward to you not winning them like the previous four attempts ;)

8 out of 9 failures is it? ;)

Can't really laugh at PNE when we're fairly certain to be playing League One football next season. Need 6 points over Easter weekend to stand any chance of staying up. :(

You'll be in a decent position for next season though- if we don't go up we'll struggle to replace the loans that have been a big part of our success this season. If we DO go up, we'll have to get used to having our backsides handed to us on the pitch every week!

I do fancy our chances this year, but the important thing is there are still five games to go and a maximum of 15 points left to play for. If we can get 10 or 11 points from those games, then that should seal our second consecutive top six finish, but whether its in 4th, 5th or 6th is a different story. It's still theoretically possible for us to catch Reading and/or Leeds if one or both slip up (what happened to Reading against Norwich?) and we can capitalise, but I'm not counting on anything until after the final whistle on May 7th.

Seriously I hope you do stay up but Bristol City and Notts Forest the next 2 games your right max points are needed and to think we did you a favour with Bristol:lol:

Also with it looking like Bolton and poss even Fleetwood Town getting promoted it will make for a few interesting derbies ! Looks like the Dingles are staying in the prem though, that's got to be annoying for you :D

But we have a few loans as well, Makinok, Baptiste and McGeedy whose been fantastic for us this season, list Beckford & Doyle definitely, may May as well, in which case we need 1 poss 2 strikers and another c/half for cover.

If you do get promoted then I hope your chairman's got deep pockets !

Both Preston and Huddersfield have, at least based on budget, over-achieved this season- but once you get in with a shout of promotion you don't know when you'll have the chance again. I hope we make it, but it won't be the end of the world if we don't.

Our chairman has invested heavily in the club, but has always had the aim of making the club sustainable. Promotion would lessen our dependency on "Sir" Dean Hoyle with the influx of TV money and 3 years of parachute payments. If we go up, I think Hoyle will follow the Burnley example rather than the QPR "path".

Completely agree, Trevor Hemmings has basically saved our club, stabilised not only the finances but has backed the manager every time. It's amazing how many rival fans still think we are a "small" club !

Best of luck in the p/offs, its definitely an experience not to be missed !

No play offs for Darlo: http://darlingtonfootballclub.co.uk...ating-to-the-national-league-north-play-offs/

DFC: The Board has now received confirmation from the National League that the club will not be allowed to participate in the National League North play-offs. The requirement to have 500 covered seats across two stands as at 31 March 2017 came about as a result of a change to the Ground Grading rules in May 2016 which was not picked up at the time of the development of Blackwell Meadows. The Board will be appealing against this decision and is liaising with Poole Town FC who are in a similar situation.

Ground does not meet required standards and the club missed a rule change. The club ( and Poole Town who are in a similar position will appeal. I expect that to fail. balls. :(

We may both have glorious histories, but by today's standards both Huddersfield and Preston ARE small clubs.

I do think you deserve to go up after this season, but my only worry is can Huddersfield afford to buy (and/or loan) enough Premier League quality players which you'll need to stay up?

I'd like to think we're in a decent position squad wise, although we desperately need to offload quite a few fringe players and reinvest that money into fewer but higher quality players whether we get promoted or we lose out on promotion (again). I'm a bit concerned about Jordan Rhodes' slightly disappointing start to his career with us, I just hope he can rediscover his goal scoring form sooner rather than later.

So does the next highest team go through instead or does the opponent receive a bye?

Well, Poole Borough Council did a fat lot of good there, yet again.

I have lost count how many promotions Poole have missed out due to ground issues.

If we go up, I'd rather we don't splash silly money on big name signings- the players that will have earned the promotion deserve to be a part of Town in the top flight. If we go down, big deal- it hasn't done Burnley any harm! Our reserves gave Man City a good 100 minutes before collapsing, and on our day we could give any opposition problems.

When Rhodes was at his most deadly, he was part of a front two with a physical, grafter-type partner (Lee Novak or Alan Lee at Huddersfield and Rudy Gestede at Blackburn). At Middlesbrough he was often up front on his own (or on the bench) and was less effective. I could see a pairing with Fletcher working, but they'll need time to "click" and none of the sides up this end of the table have time on their side- even us with our game in hand!

Rhodes is a top-class finisher and with the right system he'd be prolific at any level. But I don't think he'd be effective in Wagner's Town side for example.

It's next highest place for the Conference league's playoffs, so that means that one of Chorley or Stockport (or less likely Brackley) stand to benefit from this.

A top championship side with maybe 1 or 2 senior experienced premier league players added should be able to hold their own. Burnley first time round were inexperienced. They've learnt from it, stuck by the coach who has gone back with the experience and they've held their own at home at least!

I get what you mean, but you'll still need a couple of players with Premier League experience. We've got a few already, but I don't think the squad we have now is strong enough to keep us in the Premier League. I think we need to offload most if not all of the players we've loaned out as well as lesser used players in the squad and bring in four or five quality players this summer.

I agree with Fletcher being a good partner for Rhodes, and he's been playing quite well recently. Hooper is another good option for us but he's been out for most of the season so I'm happy to give him the benefit of the doubt, especially as he did a good job for us last season.

Oh he is, I just think we need to find him the right system and partner. I don't doubt his quality, but I was hoping he'd have bagged a few more goals than he has by now. Nevertheless, he's a good guy and I don't doubt his desire to work hard for the club.

It isn't clear yet - i am sure the blazers at league hq hope we fall short - our players and management are really quite peed off and are determined to finish in the playoffs to make a point

Personally if we do finish in the playoffs and are banned then there should be a bye for one team rather than giving a failure a leg up however i have long thought Stockport would pip us to the line

We don't half make things difficult for ourselves sometimes, but at least we bagged another three points today to stay ahead of Fulham.

The first and only home game I've missed this season, and we go and win with a last-gasp goal- those victories are always the best! Good to see Colin Quaner grab his first league goal, hopefully this will have opened the floodgates for him. Think we need at least one more win to be sure of a play-off place, though mathematically we need more than that and I won't relax until it's set in stone!

Truly awful performance by Derby at Griffin Park this afternoon and we were lucky to only lose 4 nill. Hoping for a big clear out in the summer, especially in defence. We simply gave up after Brentford went 2 up.

My only consolation is that Griffin Park is a short bus ride from where I live!

Oldham 1-0 Bolton :D

Massive win for Oldham as they beat second place team Bolton in early kick off. Latics had player sent off while it were still goalless and I thought Bolton will attack more which they did but we broke deadlock with scappy goal and hold firm in last 15 mins to get victory.

This take Oldham onto 51 points and six points clear of drop zone. I can't see Vale or Bury reaching 50 points mark mean Latics should be playing in third tier of 21 season in row next season.

Done Bradford a favour too... so Leeds might still have a derby game to lose and have a tantrum about next season! <D

Just two matches to play for Hyde, including the local derby against Droylsden on Monday. Yet another win to keep Hyde in the comfortable safety of 10th place in the league, with 58 points. Now a run of seven league matches without defeat.

Thank heaven this season does not end with relegation, as occurred over the last three seasons...:D

I was at this match today too. 1st half was probably the most boring I've seen all season. Had an end of season feeling to it. Great to see Paddy Miller back at the I2I and one of my York City heroes Dave McGurk in the Hyde dugout
