What about TL taking over parts of the SE depots?

They are neither losing or gaining any depots. Depot wise they will still remain the same.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'parts' of a depot

At the moment Orpington is a Southeastern depot.
What is going to happen when TL operate from there (in 2018?)?

Both GTR and SE will operate depots in the same location.

SE drivers will no longer drive GTR services Sevenoakes - Blackfriars - Bedford as they do currently.

Remains to be seen what will happen to establishment levels at the SE depot as quite a bit (50%+) of Link 1's current work is GTR.

Thanks Bromley boy, you seem to know your onions!
I'm starting at Orpington with TL next month, what routes would I likely to be learning?

Orpington GTR work is currently Sevenoakes - Blackfriars (via Swanley and Catford Loop) - TL Core - Bedford via the midland mainline. Quite a lot of the jobs turn back at Blackfriars/West Hampstead/St Albans/Luton.

There's a couple of jobs in the peak that start from Orpington and go up the Chatham mainline as far as Herne Hill, then diverge towards Blackfriars via Loughborough Junction, so I imagine these will be the starting point.

Edit: GTR drivers also sign Orpington - Sevenoakes via the Southeastern mainline (via Knockholt) as a diversion.

I've spoke to quite a few orpy blokes at se who are seriously contemplating swapping over TL because of the better terms and conditions.
Also the latest pay offer is quite attractive on the money side

Not quite true. As far as I'm aware. The shared services are set to continue. SE Drivers will still sign 700's and still sign the loop and other services into Blackfriars and beyond. In fact, they just regained Bedford work

No change to establishment as I've heard and although I remain yet to be convinced of that.

It becomes a shared depot, much like Victoria is. Routes are gained and lost all the time so its pretty much par for the course to be honest.

It seems to change by the minute, and according to who you speak to!

It would be bit odd for GTR to go to the trouble and expense of creating a depot at Orpington and continue to have its services driven by SE drivers, though. That is just preserving the current situation.

Information sharing on the railway is as non-existent as ever.

.

Doesn't it just !! ! !!

As to the routes that are driven, it always depends on the service commitments as outlined in the franchise agreement. For as long as "special arrangements" continue it is in the best interests of both companies. Losing work is never a good thing.

SE will still go up the main and mainliners will still go via the loop etc. The loop is still a diversionary for Vic's and Gilly's go that way to Bromley South. Route wise I doubt it will ever come off my route card.

New SE diagrams have Bedford and 700's and they currently run till Dec '17.

The DI situation at SE and GTR is complicated and the information I have has changed regarding who will train them.
