Not sure, however I have applied for Maryport

When I was at signalling school way back in 198x (a long time back) there was a fellow student In my class who went to Maryport, but they was forced to move along the coast to Parton beacuse of the local pond life. That was around 30yrs ago, so i would expect things to have improved by now.

Just spotted 2 jobs come up at Peterborough a grade 6 & a grade 3 position.
I applied for a grade 3 position a couple of weeks ago but the job was withdrawn.
Two questions:
Can I apply for both grades?
The advert says 12 month fixed term, this is a worry, is there a good chance of getting another position at the end of the 12 months or could it even be extended?
Thanks
Dean.

Signalling positions are now offered as a 12 month apprenticeship so initial 12 month contract is correct

I don't think that's quite right, as the Cardiff job was advertised as permanent

Hi all. I currently have a Signaller application in. Completed Online Tests. Could I apply for other signaller roles in different locations? If so, will the same online test results be used? I'm pretty sure I passed the first one.

Thanks

Thinking about my application, in about September last year I had applied for a G2 siggy role and got invited to assessment and decided not to go as it was a Fixed Term contract and I'd been offered my current (permanent) job so it was a case of turning down a maybe fixed term for a definite permanent - will this go against me?

Hi,

I had the same experience as you with the grade 3 position and was about to ask the exact same question. I can't believe Network Rail would potentially invest all that time and money in training someone up for just a 1 year contract. Saying that I would definitely want some reassurance that it would lead to long term employment. Hopefully the other answers above are confirmation.

SWCC have a Grade 2 Level Crossing Desk, three grade 4 desks (Shrewsbury North, VOG and NWC) the rest is Grade 6 “Newport link”, Grade 7 Cardiff & Valleys desks with a Grade 7 Relief link.

You certainly won’t see anything over Grade 4 (this is rare externally) at SWCC advertised externally.

Rosters are 8s or 12hrs, or plain 12hrs depending on links.

Would a G4 sign all the G4 desks or just the one?

I would assume you would sign all the desks in the grade 4 link, that maybe just one or even three desks I'm not sure to be honest.

They say up to six weeks. But it all depends on the Ops Manager. I applied for those two and are still waiting at tests complete. I have another app running which had a closing date of 28th November and just turned to app under consideration for assessment 2 today. My last three bridges (11x) application in July didn't come back until late September as unsuccessful. Just depends on how many applications to consider etc

unfortunately yes. Most are around 3 months to 6 months from start to finish. Some may be even longer.

Hi,
Yes hopefully it is a 12 month apprenticeship leading to a longer term role, if not I'm sure with all the time and money NR have invested it would help to get a signaller job else where.
Are you applying again? I've applied for both positions, fingers crossed!

Just waiting to see if I'm invited to test again, practising verbal reasoning just in case, as this is definitely my weakest one.

Yes I've applied again. I didn't make it as far as completing the tests on my last application before it was withdrawn so I should be practising those as well. Hopefully this time the position won't be withdrawn.
