I’m 27. Fairly sure I’m the second youngest driver at my depot.
Interesting, at the moment, I seem to be in second grouping, just.
At which end though?
I'm in my mid 60s but don'e seem to be able to register on the poll.
It's an option when you create a poll.Perhaps they are only open for a while?
My interest in the railways tailed off when I entered my 20s. While I was still at university and going back home for weekends, I still maintained links with my local model railway club, going on various days out and attending exhibitions etc. When I started working I was far less able to do this, both in terms of time and money. New social circles and more "romantic" interests gradually took over.20-29 are in the lead at least in the people who voted. It would be interesting to know if this is because they are more likely to be on a railway forum or more tech savy, if they are more likely to vote at all given their age, if they have more time to enjoy the railways or if as we get older we loose interest. I would suggest that as you get in to your twenties you have more money to do what you want such as indulge in the railways. As you move up through the age groups people have other commitments plus the factor of just not being as interested in the railways any more.
Yeah, my interest kind of tailed off in the early 90's as I was heading to uni, had a girlfriend and had money to go the match. Also though at the same time loco hauled travel started to tail off.My interest in the railways tailed off when I entered my 20s. I would say that it's only really in the last few years, and certainly since I joined this forum, that my interest in railways has been re-kindled.
Similar to you and Gus, I never completely lost interest but from about 1994 I gave up with bashing etc. Luckily there were still model railways and preserved railways to keep my interests going .Yeah, my interest kind of tailed off in the early 90's as I was heading to uni, had a girlfriend and had money to go the match. I'm sure a few keep their identity secret to stop the weirdos creeping into their dm's30s brigade! Although surely there must be some other women on here?
What’s a dm lrd?I'm sure a few keep their identity secret to stop the weirdos creeping into their dm's
What’s a dm lrd?
Thanks for that.Direct message.
I think it's great to see that we have a member in their eighties, and before anyone suggests it....No it isn't me.
There have been many posts on what to do with unwanted 442s - we could probably write a book along the lines of "what to do with your leftover Christmas turkey"!Similar to you and Gus, I never completely lost interest but from about 1994 I gave up with bashing etc. Luckily there were still model railways and preserved railways to keep my interests going .
Being on here has made me go out and sample a 37 in Cumbria and a bit of 57 action locally plus other things which has been great actually and I’ve learnt more about 442s than I ever thought possible.

I do find this quite sad. Indeed, post #9 by the very person who started this thread says:I'm sure a few keep their identity secret to stop the weirdos creeping into their dm's
Despite the smiley, and the intended good humour, I'd imagine comments like this would put a fair few people off.If there are any females here, please let yourselves be known. At your own risk.

The poll was set by the OP to expire but I have re-opened it.I missed the vote but it would've been one more for the 40-49 age group
You were all so lucky have been able to enjoy using the trains in your childhood when they were actually cheap.

With some reluctance I checked the 40-49 option. I'm still somewhat in denial!
