The only thing we remove from the ex fgw units during prm Work is the cctv as the equipment belongs to gwr

I've noticed that, looked where the camera was only to find it as an empty shell and thought that someone had swiped the CCTV cameras.

That's strange. I thought the CCTV was fitted when they were being used in the West Midlands. The difference is GWR paid to keep it operational, while Northern turned it off as they weren't required to have functioning CCTV on their 150s.

What work are they doing on the 142's? I thought they were all getting withdrawn by the end of next year.
Mechanical overhauls I believe. They still need to be kept going until their replacements arrive, if they were cars they'd have at least one M.O.T test before they're retired.

Same happens with buses they could have one final M.O.T before they get withdrawn and end up with a private company happens a lot in the stagecoach empire.

There’s no cctv equipment on the angel 150s that northern have , the ex fgw units have it but we are not fitting the control units back and send the equipment to gwr

I've just seen a photo of 319361 and 319450 returning from Wolverton on Flickr, both are now in the full livery.

It may have been out a while, but 319442 was at Lime Street today in full Northern livery.

First time I have seen it.

I think it's been out a little while, that one.

I don't think it has, thank you. I'll add that to my next update.

As all 319s have been repainted now which ones are in the full livery with the Blue ends and branding and which ones have just the white and blue doors without branding(what I like to call Northernlink livery as its similar to the Thameslink livery)

In plain white are 319362-369, 377 & 448, although I suspect 319362 & 448 are now at Wolverton and may well come back in the full livery, as 319361/450 were treated over the last week or so. Others not mentioned, full livery.

Any particular reason for liking that particular unit? I don't really take note of numbers like I once did, but I seem to notice whenever I get 757 as it was the first 158 I rode back in the day... though it was only a 2-car unit back then!
My First ever class 158, Rode her from Blackpool North to Preston and then she surprised me with the Morecambe to Leeds service! :)

Do Northern ever plan to get the internal electronic displays on 150s etc to say something other than just continually scrolling the final train destination?

Surely it isn’t too much hard work!

Legislation requires more than is currently being displayed, however I believe there are issues with fitted units and non-fitted units communicating with each other- so the current set-up is temporary.

Easier to sort once the fleet is all fitted.

150211 on the 09:17 Manchester-Chester today with full internal and external repaint and new seat covers and cushions (the new ones are firmer than the old ones.) The CIS was switched off, I don't know if that means it's not operational (not even showing just the destination) or whether the crew hadn't been trained on setting it. If it's stayed on the same diagram it'll be on the 13:17 Manchester-Chester now, then the 14:59 Chester-Manchester (with another unit), then the 16:49 Manchester-Buxton.

Is 150142 pretty much the example of how Northern's 150s will look once completed? If so, based on a short hop earlier (Mirfield to Dewsbury on the heavily delayed Victoria to Leeds service) they'll be... adequate. The seats are reasonably comfortable and the lack of airline 3s mean it feels open and welcoming. The white walls help with that so they'll need keeping clean!

Overall, the best refurbishment of the awkward 1970s/1980s 20m with "suburban" doors design I've seen since the Merseyrail heavy overhauls in the early 2000s.

150211, which based on other posts is the most recently done, has blue paint below the window level and at the carriage ends and white paint around and above the windows. The blue at the ends of the carriages actually make the carriages seem shorter.

The ex-FNW 150s, unlike the ex-ATN and ex-LM ones had already had an extensive refurbishment in the late 90s/early 00s. At the time the interiors were pretty much the same standard as the interiors on the brand new 357s which c2c got and most people thought they were new trains.

I suppose a darker colour on the lower walls will seem warmer and less "stark", as well as being easier to keep clean-looking.

Other than that though, 150142 (much like 144012 and the Merseyrail units) show that it is possible to polish a turd!

EDIT: To clarify, the Merseyrail units I refer to means the 507/508s:- NOT the Merseytravel 142s!

The nice thing about the non scrolling display is that there are no automated announcements - long may it continue! All the unnecessary announcements on 319s are a pain.

I've been on one that displayed "Class 150". At least it had the correct gen.
